OK,
Here's a Halloween story from Uncle Scott...
Really!
I promised my Sister one year that I'd take my Nephew to the "Punkin' Patch,"
let him pick out a pumpkin and help him carve it.
Well,
Cory was only about 3 that year and I went to my Sister's to pick him up.
We drove into the country to a "U Pick" pumpkin Farm.
It was a bang up operation.
They had a tractor with a wooden trailer to haul folks down to the Punkin' Patch!
When the tractor stopped, we hopped off of the trailer and I could see the wonderment in his eyes.
He was rarin' to go get him a "punkin'!"
I took his hand, looked him in the eye and said,
"If you can carry it back to the tractor, it's yours!"
He agreed and off he ran down a row of pumpkins.
About 20-30 yards later, I saw him trip and fall.
I went running to him and he was crying inconsolably.
I checked him for injuries and finding none asked why he was crying.
He showed me his hand, covered in pumpkin goop and pointed to a rotten pumpkin,
that his hand hit when he fell, and he said,
"Uncle Scott, I killed that one!"
Gosh, Cory is now in his 20's, I'd guess.....
Haven't really stayed in touch with my Family.
I've tried.
They know how to reach me.
Anyway....
Did someone say, "I'm not gonna let it bother me tonight?"
I took him again a few years later when he was about 8-9.
Got pictures around here somewhere....
