The Ralph Nader missive, "Unsafe at any Speed," about the car model "Corvairs," launches a broad new consumer movement.

I have my gear pretty much squared away for my trip.

Monday is a Holiday that I'll be paid for, but I plan on working a normal 8 hours and Shannon said that if I do, I can take Friday off also to get an early start on my vacation and not miss any time!

I just checked the weather report for the Franklin, North Carolina area and, guess what?
Yep.
Supposed to rain the whole time!

https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/Franklin+NC+28734:4:US

But, Ole Scotty's camped in the rain before. Bring it!
In fact, I've camped when I had to fight a storm that took my tent down a mountain and I had to go retrieve it when the storm passed....

As I used to say when I was a "short-timer" in the Army...
"5 more days and a wake-up and I'm on my way!"

Now, all I have left is to purchase a really fine cigar and a medium sized bottle of Scotch.
After all, Birthdays only come once a year. Dig?

Best,

Scott

Sorting, cataloging and listing the 55 pounds of foreign coins have brought me today to 12643 coins to swap.
111 countries, over 3200 different coins and I just finished with the Netherlands.

I'm perhaps half-way through the large pile and have many more enjoyable hours to go.

I've found some silver, some unusual additions, some worth a bit more than commons and some errors, like doubling, etc worth much more....
A simple hobby for a simple man. One who also enjoys my Friends here at Treasurenet!

Y'all be good and do good.

For "A good man has no enemies and many Friends"

I love the beaded hatband. Navajo? "Medicine Man's Eye?"
I know how to bead and can bead that band.
I have created original designs to bead and some are now in museums....
I still have the hand-drawn patterns....
Gimme a minute and I'll find them....

I also have several looms that I've made, one is nearly 6 feet long, and still have many vials of different colored beads.
Perhaps when I find time, I'll do more beading....
I learned to bead on my own and after studying different designs of Native Americans.
I also learned much from an Ojibwa Friend.

Best,

Scott

Yes, I bead.

If it involves creativity, count me in!
Tie-Dye?
I still have shirts that I created over 10 years ago!

I'm also working on a counted cross-stitch project.

And, I'm about half finished with my fourth quilt....

If I only had the time to finish the things I've begun....

OK.

Looking for pictures and such...
Damn!
Y'all know how I hate delving into my box of memories...

I found pictures of a couple of my first quilts....

IMG_2169.JPG
The first quilt I ever made.

The next quilt picture is one that I made for my Mom and gave it to her on Christmas....

IMG_2170.JPG
Me, my Mom and my Grandmother.....
I used old shirts of my Grandfather for the material that my Grandmother gave to me for the project way back in the spring after my Grandfather died........
My Mom cried...
And I cried also.

Hope all are well.....

Sometimes the search for photos in my box of memories reveals long lost pleasant memories....
Like the time a Friend and I went from Kansas to Colorado to hike, camp and pan for gold.
Some 20 years ago....As I recall, it was late Autumn and the snow had begun to fall.....

IMG_2178.JPG

We decided at random to stop at a casino in Blackhawk to enjoy the buffet before we succumbed to the wilderness experience.....

IMG_2171.JPG
Well, I won nearly $1000 on the nickel and quarter slots at the "Red Dolly."
(Yeah, I know the secrets of the slots.....)

I have just found again several pictures and am reminded of a few stories of that trip....

Perhaps the adventures of my anticipated journey to Franklin will not be buried from my Friends in my "Box of Memories."

Best,

Scott

It's midnight...

How should I play this hand?

Or....

When the campfire wanes and you are alone on an unfamiliar mountaintop,
I ask, one more log for the fire? And, just one more cup of coffee before retiring for the night?

OV,
Somehow, I knew that you would come through! :occasion14:

How about this?

Certainly you notice the Lady playing the Ovation?

Still wanting to find one....
6 or 12....
Let me know, Brother....

Some begin their day when the sun rises.
Some begin when the sun sets....

And there are those like me who begin their day whenever....

Day nor night has any relevance.
Time is immaterial....
All that matters is that one lives to see another day....

A sunrise is as welcome of a sight as is a sunset.
How does one judge a good day?

Philosophically,
A sunrise conotates the beginning of life, whereas, a sunset could signify the decline of life.
When one chooses to live by the sunrise or sunset theorem, doesn't one live exclusively by this example?
Perhaps if one were to examine the choices available, one would question this hypothesis....
Do you live by sunrise or sunset?

"Yeah, I'm just here to remind you of stupid crap you never thought of before that I had to write Honors College Thesis papers about....
So, do you want fries with your burger?"

(My humor is sometimes cerebral, requiring deep thought.... Bully if you get it. Sorry if you don't)

Joke of the day — My wife has not spoken to me in three days. I think it has something to do with what happened on Sunday night when she thought she heard a noise downstairs.

She nudged me and whispered, "Wake up, wake up!"

"What's the matter?" I asked.

"There are burglars in the kitchen. I think they're eating the tuna casserole I made tonight."

"That'll teach them!" I replied.

:laughing9: thanks for the laughs
