Small game opener today.
Ritual from way back means being "out there" before the faint light becomes real.
Instead ,I watched the wake up from the porch.
Counted squirrels , those grown accustomed to me since they first hit the ground and noticed humans...and my/our many dogs.
Kept tabs on the critters throughout the day. Safe here as a decade of raising vermin chasers has kept squirrels on the safe list for entertainment and training.
Lost my partner in squirrel/woodsrunning this year though.
Rather than break ritual with him it's an opener left unhunted.
Tonight I'll touch his box of ashes and tell him I miss him and that he is a good boy.

No traffic, no sirens in the distance...
No music played here......

Only me and the sounds that I hear outside of my door....

You DO know that I'm keen on the sounds of Nature, right?

The right notes , or buttons get plucked or pushed......We can bounce from id to ego or to super ego as fast as clutching a transmission.
No sequence or order required , just a trigger to indicate subconscious direction.

My computer accessibility has recently been compromised.

I'm not available until all is right.

Security protocol is again instituted.

Meaning that my guns are cleaned AND WELL OILED, WAITING FOR THE FOE,

I'm WAITING....Come and git cha some....

Scott : Ie. Well oiled.
30 below windchill (F) makes adhesive out of oil. Makes semi auto's fail to feed and fail to fire unless completely degreased.
Warmer temps still will ,but I learned firsthand ,fortunately at my leisure with multiple action types that come winter firing pins get cleaned and hammers/bolts too.
No oil again till above freezing ,only if wetted or condensation from bringing one into a heated area warrants re cleaning.
Watched someone hammer on an auto's bolt with a flashlight one winter trying to break the ice bind....ouch.
A standard.22 loses ummph in deep cold too.
Stuff you probably learned in Europe when teeth were chattering.

Response was timely after sharp eye followed correct protocol. Previous delay was of benefit too.
A nice change was the calm demeanor of those interviewed vs hysterics, but then considering the venue... it makes sense.
