CRH for January 2009

Thanks guys, I was just blowing off some steam, no CRH find can ever replace the feeling of when I found my first silver (1937 Merc) and all of the other cool finds I made while MD'ng. I am still going to go out and hunt just like last year!!! Joe, Mike you remember the old parking lot in the woods I was telling you about last year (but we never made it over to check it out). I wanna hit every square inch of that place starting this spring. Oh, I also want to try and find that old tavern, I heard about it before but never had an exact location (now we do). I am about half way there (with CRH silver) to getting my Excalibur 1000. I should have enough by summer.

The bad part is that Joe knows where I live, so he could really sit outside my place and picket!!! LOL

My back is aching but my eyes are fine. The secret location to my stash is my safe inside my house. ;D
I have thousands of 40's & 50's Wheaties, I was thinking of burring a cache somewhere, but if I did, it would be somewhere where nobody would have a reason to go there. Like out in the absolute middle - like do the math and use a gps to find the exact center of some woods and bury like $5 in Wheaties in an old bottle that I have found..

WOW - Awesome job bud!!!! Lots of silver with including a Frankie, and a cool foreign coin too - CONGRATS!!!!!

Is that foreign coin silver? You can check by sound. Get a 90% and flick it in the air using your thumb, listen to the sound. Then do it to the foreign. Then flick a 40% and see if they sound similar.

Thanks man! Gotta love it when the silver's flowing. After about an hour of looking, I found out that foreign coin is an Iranian 20 Rial from 1973... it's just nickel plated copper. Oh well, still cool.

Hell yea, I hope it keeps up. Sadly I seen a dramatic down turn in the dimes, now I am 50/50 on getting 1 silver per box. I guess people were turning in the silver dimes to get more money for Xmas. On the otherhand, I am doing a whole lot better with silver half's!!! Weird.... :icon_scratch:

At least you are killing it with wheaties as well. I bet those are as slow as halves... I don't like having to look at all of the dates and mintmarks, but I'll do it for some big silver! I've also seen a similar downturn in dimes... avg. like 1 per box now.

Oh, btw... did you check your 55-d's for double die obverse? I don't think they are all as pronounced as the books show... might not be very obvious.

Oh, no I didn't even think to look.I'll check when I get home. :icon_pirat:

I did 4 boxes of half's today & they were stinky!!!! I did however find 1 1964 half, but it is also silver plated.... Why in the heck would someone silver plate a 90% silver coin? :icon_scratch: Hey I will take the however I can get them!!!! :icon_pirat:

The coins is a lot more shiny than in the pix, also the edge is screaming plated, it doesn't have the same feel as my mercury dipped half so I believe its silver. :tongue3:

Pretty cool TF! Sucks about the 4 boxes only having one... but dang, when you find one you find one! WTG

2 more boxes, just killin time at the night job. I found 21 wheaties.

box #1
1920
1945 x 2
1951d
1953d
1956d x 3
1957
1957d
1958d

forign:
1998 Bahamas 1 cent

box #2
1937d
1941
1945
1947d
1949
1951d
1952d
1953d
1956
1957d

I also found a cool gold plated penny. The clad penny next to it is just to show what a regular penny looks like with my lighting. That makes 2 plated coins for me today, 1st was the 1964 half that was silver plated then this.

Awexome TF! Are you doing wheaties just to fill books, jars, whatever... or are you looking for those key date ones to hit it big?

I just think is amazing how many coins we are searching through in such a short time. I've gone through more coins in one month than I've ever had passing through my hands my entire life.

I look through wheats for earily dates and someday I hope to find an Indian Head!!!! Other than that, I just toss the rest into a cigar box. Just in January I searched $20,570.00, that is 127,040 coins searched!!!! :icon_pirat:

Geez man... I've only done about a fourth of that. You've gotta be grabbin' coins every day just about.

Good luck on getting an IH! That would be sweet... like the barber you found CRH'ing dimes.
