All Treasure Hunting
New permission yields massive haul in just one hour! Scrapers, drills, blades, weird tools and this thingymajig! Flint area of field measures roughly 100yrds wide by 300yrds long. So thick with flint it crunches with every step...Been hunting and collecting artifacts for roughly 30 years, never seen anything like this. Can't post every find but will post wierd and significant items I think may be of interest to the group.

Pretty over the top reaction to someone who simply offered their opinion.....

Agreed. Kind of soured me on the post and the poster. I was going to try to show pictures to help him out but I'm not wasting my time now.

You May have a few Scrapers or Tools in there but for the most part they look like debitage as others have said. Better pictures will help. Your thingamajig is just a naturally fractured piece of material.

I would agree with you if we had this material in our area but we don't. They would have had to have hauled it in or traded for it... Could have been a staging ground or processing center for their hunts, who knows really, that's part of the fun of this site, trying to figure out what it was used for and by whom...

I'll post some close up pics of some knapped peices so all can see...

Thanks for the feedback!

Lol, sometimes I wonder why I bring them all home! Just have a hard time leaving behind a complete knapped tool just because it may not be award winning or frame worthy in someone's eye... I believe if I find something that's clearly been worked that I'm supposed to save it for posterity so others can appreciate and the past is not forgotten. I'm about preserving history and the story of a people who struggled to survive. Therefore I have a very unique collection of peices that most would have passed on yet are still significant in there own right for what they are.

I’m all about preserving the history as well but don’t you think it’s unusual your not finding any points / finished pieces , I have a few sites where there is pieces of debitage and flakes everywhere you look but also a lot of knives , points and hammer stones

That's quite a big pile of rocks you have there.
Are you a real doctor or do you just play one on the internet?

Lol, am I really having a conversation with a Gopher? Just my handle sir as I study archeology and ancient indigenous people cultures. Yes, they are rocks and would guess that's what you collect as well if you hunt for native American Indian artifacts. The picture posted does not do this group of "rocks" justice and will be posting close-up pics to show the knapping...

I'm not a real gopher but I've been called an ass.
Let's see the good stuff.

i find stuff like that all the time in Nevada, a point here and there, lots of thin flakes and lots of what you have....bigger pieces knocked off and discarded while fashioning some other piece. I brought back 11 pounds of that stuff just 3 days ago...mine was all multi colored jasper, chalcedony, petrified wood etc. Most of the stuff i just let it lay, literally all over the place.

Unless you post pics of readily accepted artifacts in nice frames first I don’t think anyone here will take you seriously.

I plan on posting close up shots of various finds, thanks! Tough crowd, lol but that's ok, it will put some people in there place...

Just keep your cool, nothing personal here, all opinions, no need to get upset. You seem to have that vibe so power to ya.

Not true. I love Flake Tools, Scrapers, Uniface pieces etc and have lots of it. You may have of those in your group there but it's really hard to tell without better pictures.

I said I wasn't going to do this but here goes anyway. Do any of your pieces show flaking like on these pieces? These are all Uniface Flake Tools and every piece is worked. These have some of the finest micro flaking I have ever seen. Any of yours show flaking like this?

Don't worry Fred, I'm not angry! Opinions are great, matter of fact, ignorant statements are another matter... So many "rock" and debitage experts on here, it's hilarious! Thanks for the sound advice and comment!

Not so fast "Doc". You and Fred have a wealth of knowledge here at your fingertips but it seems you guys are just too arrogant and stubborn to accept it. Many of these collectors here have 50+ years of collecting experience and have examined more actual artifacts than you two may ever hold in your hands. I've known more than a few of these guys here for 13+ years from the many archaeology web sites that we all belonged to and that have bellied-up over time. I've also met some of these guys in person. We've seen many folks like you two come and go from these sites. We've also seen a few that have seen the light of day and realized what we are telling them is the truth. Doc, I'm surprised that you have been here for sooooo long and put something out here like this. Evidently, you have not been paying attention and boning-up with what is offered here. You two guys are in denial if you don't want to accept the truth about y'all's rocks. Anyone that tells you any different than us are just blowing smoke; i.e. liars or ill-informed! I'm not one of the coddlers here and I'll always tell you what I think if you ask--no, if you post!

Grim, you have far more knowledge than I ever will, not up for debate. Even experts differ in opinion on stuff like this, and I don’t like that my side of the debate is routinely shot down: This forum seems like the only place that an open discussion of ideas is allowed, which is why it’s by far the best on the net imo.

T-dog, that went up before my reply. If you think al my stuff is a figment if my imagination, I’m ok with it. I don’t think you have encountered a spot like we have. You will have to click on pics
To see them as they were meant to be viewed.

I still don't think you get it Fred. It seems that you are "OK" with things as you are incorrectly seeing them in your own little world. I've already clicked on them all.
