Coppercrazy's Coin Roll Hunting Log

I have just gotten into the coin roll hunting hobby and thought it would be cool to post some goals of mine for the year 2012 and my finds. So far I have only been searching boxes of pennies and I have ordered a box a week but might bump it up to 2. I will start doing some customer rolls of dimes or nickels very soon.

$220 in halves produced 38 dollar coin, which I paid 50c a piece for and 2 40%ers.
Nice score! I've only found one, ever. Were they mostly in the same rolls? How many in the roll with the most?

The banks counter counts all dollar coins as halves because the machine is about 50 years old.

Wow, what a rip off for the people putting dollar coin in. Hard to believe the bank doesn't correct a known problem like that.

I know, but I made $19.00 next time they get a whole lot, you better bet I'm buying them!

$72.50 of cents produced roughly 28% copper and 13 common wheats, oldest 1919. Going to reroll instead of taking the left over to the coin counter. I have to give them to the same teller ever time for her to count, so I thought I'd give her a break and roll for 2-3 hours and take them to a different bank. Then I'll pick some more up tomorrow hopefully.

I just picked up $71.50 of CWR cents and in one roll out of the first $8 had 14 wheats in it. Hoping that was leftovers from some solid rolls!

$174.50 in cents 2 boxes machine wrapped and rest customer wrapped produced 64 common wheats, oldest 1910, a MS62/63 1956d, and a circulated 1998 WAM. Picking up a box of nickels and cents Thursday (first day of school.)

$76.03 of silver total for year. Been focusing on school and other things lately, but I'm back in the game and ready to go full force! I'm gonna cull all the silver dimes!

7 Rosie's out of $550 3 different branches, one roll had 4 in it. :D a little less than 2 hours of work $17.55 - $2.25 gas = $15.30 profit and yesterday was $12.54 -$1.50 gas = $11.04 profit. Total 2 day profit $26.34. Not bad for 3h20m of work. Going out this weekend to get some more! Hoping to pull a lot Saturday. I'm planning on going out all day so it should be pretty good. Total of 31 silver dimes (1 Canadian) It would be pretty cool if I could complete my first roll this weekend, doubt it but ya never know!

Sold 9 silver dimes to LCS for $20.34. I thought it was a pretty good deal. I need some gas money so I can go out and hopefully find a hole bunch tomorrow! Also bought 2 Indian heads for $1.25 each. 1907 and 1908, both are F-12. Received 2 proof cents from 60's in change. This coin shop is awesome. They said my dad had to come in everytime I want to sell my silver instead of writing a note or something. Hoping to get maybe 20 tomorrow? Going out all day starting 8 all the way until 8ish. I'll be keeping about 30% of what I find, and selling the rest for gas, leisure things, and increasing my bankroll.

Are the proofs with an "S mintmark? The San Francisco minted business strike coins in the 1960s.

9 silver dimes today. 6.5 hours of work... :/ not nearly as good as the previous 2 days.

Overall, not too great, instead of ordering halves I am going to order boxes of dimes. I think the dimes will be more consistent and easier to get rid of. Order for next Thursday (so far) 2 boxes of dimes, 5 boxes of halves. That will probably change to 7 boxes of dimes or more next Thursday. I finally hit my merc goal, I have no shot of reaching my wheat cent and indian head cent goal, since I just gave up on those. I don't know about the nickels though. My first merc was nice! That goal is done. I am reseting my dime goal because I sold them all, and I don't want to do that. I am restarting the goal to 50 by the end of the year. Next year I would like to come up with 10 rolls of silver dimes. My silver ounces is also reseting to what I currently have stored. $1000 is pretty nice to work with for dimes. I want to go out tomorrow and buy $1000 in dimes and bring them home and search them. It might be tough to get a hold of that much customer wrapped dimes in my area with only 2 accounts, but I always ask the other banks I don't have accounts with.

Branch 3: $596.20 Bag of Dimes - 1964d x2, 1948, 1950, 1944 Merc

Overall, 5 silver dimes isn't too bad. I might try the bag of quarters the bank has tomorrow. I doubt I will get anything, but you never know.
