Coppercrazy's Coin Roll Hunting Log

I have just gotten into the coin roll hunting hobby and thought it would be cool to post some goals of mine for the year 2012 and my finds. So far I have only been searching boxes of pennies and I have ordered a box a week but might bump it up to 2. I will start doing some customer rolls of dimes or nickels very soon.

Bank 2: $250 Brinks Dimes Box-SKUNK
Bank 3: Had No Boxes of Coins
Bank 4: Had No Dimes, $250 Quarters-SKUNK
Bank 4: $250 Brinks Box-1964
Bank 4: $150 Quarters, $100 Box of Nickels-2 War Time, 10 Pre 50's, 1934 Canadian.

So Overall I had a pretty rough day $5.06 Silver Spot. :/
I'm going to try to do 2 boxes of nickels and a box of cent tomorrow. Wish me luck!

NOTE: Some banks will have multiple listings because I went to these multiple times.

:occasion18: Big shout out to NICKEL SEARCHER 219 for getting me into hunting nickels. At first I was skeptical, but he was right! :occasion18:

As I keep thinking about all of the treasures out there I really want to increase my bankroll to something large enough to where I don't need to worry about getting rid of coins as soon as I get them, although that would be a good idea. I Would like at least a $1,000 bankroll. Lol, Now I am just getting greedy.

Even a 1k bank roll is small, it can buy you two boxes of halves then you are screwed when they say oh we have more! I avoid the "hang on while I go to my bank" moment.

That is a a very good point that I wish I could fix, but I can't at the moment. They didn't have a problem with waiting for me to swap out, although they might eventually. Hopefully my bankroll with be big enough by then.

Overall today was a little below good. Out of $200 on nickels ($150 Plastic Brinks, $50 Customer) I pulled 2 35% silver war nickels and 63 pre 60's. Also picked up $25 in pennies, someone else's dumps...This is the 3rd time I've picked up customer rolls from DIFFERENT banks and I got someone elses dumps. Looks like I'm only going to be a able to do sealed Brinks boxes.

Searching a box of dimes and cents tomorrow. Somehow my bankroll went from $250 to $244...

Ok I did pretty well yesterday. 1 brinks box of dimes produced 1 1956d and the brinks box of cents produced an amazing 31 wheats! I didn't have any key dates yet and nothing pre 1920's yet.

Finished up my pennies $35 worth produced 16 wheats and $10 of copper. Going to go pick up 4 boxes today.

Ok so $120 (4 boxes, $20 customer rolls) produced some pretty good finds, which I am quite happy with! Ok so first of all I pulled 58 wheats, a little below average but still pretty good, including one AU/MS 1957. I also got 2 1 cent euro coins and a 1 jiao Japan coin. 1 2000 Wide AM and a 1998 Wide AM. And last but not least the best for last!!!!! DRUMROLL!!!! NOT 1 BUT 2 INDIAN HEADS (1904 and 1895)!!!! They were both in the same box and oddly enough there were only 4 wheats in that box...:icon_scratch: So, pictures are below. I also found out that I can dump my coins at 3 First Merit Branches all with 5 miles of me in a FREE coin counting machine! All you have to do is deposit the money in the checking and take it out. Opening an account there soon!

Congratulations on the great penny finds and the Indian Head cents! :icon_thumleft:

It took me a long time to go through them all by date, around 7 hours, but I seperate copper so I can sell it to increase my bankroll. It looks like I am on the right track for my cent goals. I would like a lifetime goal of pulling 1 flying eagle. That would be really cool.

The 1 jiao coin is Chinese. A jiao is 1/10 of yuan, or about 2 cents in exchange.

Sold my first $100 box of copper and made $27. So by bankroll is getting larger and larger very slowly.

I have so much time on my hands so I'll start going through around $300 a week. I really need the first merit account but I need to make $100 from selling copper first.
