It could have just been made by a bored copper forger, to serve no purpose. Maybe two thousand years ago, or maybe in the 1800's. If so, he would probably be laughing right now at our attempts to try and identify it.

It also could have been made to fit the maker's specific purpose, making it very hard to identify. I am almost sure that this thing is handmade, and not mass produced. It is pretty much the stone hedge of the tool world.

Could be ceremonial, of no utilitarian use. UP or Mitten? Those mound guys, Fort Ancient, Adena, (late archaic to middle woodland periods) in the Ohio River Valley traded from the gulf to the UP and beyond. Mounds were full of pearls, conch, mica cutouts, and copper. Dunno, it's cool though.

The UP= upper peninsula mitten= lower peninsula thanks for the link though

The U.P.( Where some " Yoopers" live ,and other people do as well...) is not the mitten.
The lower peninsula ( where "trolls, fudgies, and flatlanders" live) is the mitten.

" I am I am a Michigan man ,that's where I'm from and I'll show you my hand"....( Where I live in relation to or on the " mitten").

Sure you ain't a cheese head or Hoosier or somethin?:laughing7:

Yeah checked out the scheme website. Mostly museums though the Victoria and Albert, the national museum of Ireland and the British museum. The first two didn't know what it was still waiting to hear back from the last. I've posted emails from all 3 on this tread. That's about it for the UK
