We need an i.d..
Not that anyone cares or not.
Speculation all I got.
Without my former computer , chasing a native , or French isolation casting is out .
That is if it is hundreds of years old.
Revisiting the context ,the history of and around the site could be a project too.
Easier to sit here and wait. That's not an offense meant..

Of course, 'if' you ever get a valid ID we will all be interested, so please update.

But, I'm a nay sayer & stick to my first thoughts of the following date range - 1600-1800.

Yeah I was being a bit dramatic. As far as the history of the site other than being near the mounds. The area is not suitable for growing crops or buildings. So not much for history as far as businesses/residential. Maybe some construction near by roads/train tracks but that's going to be about it.

Sometimes our passion can be dramatic.
Beats no passion.
The mounds near me are usually waterway related.
Some too relate to not only a waterway route but a trail route also.
All related to where food was easier to acquire in more diverse forms in travel /seasonal areas.
Some reflect people from great distances, either interacting ,or reflected in relics acquired from multiple groups ...somehow.....

I just sent another email to the BM to see if they found anything out. I waited almost a month and a half. Not much of an update but it's something. It's a five hour time difference maybe I'll get a reply in the morning.

Good luck, you need to wait another 16 months,...

You should have told me that first lol. So the guy I originally talked with sent the duty curator an email asking for a follow up. He copied me in the email now I just have to wait to hear back from him. At least I know they didn't just forget about me.

Well, once on a coin forum I got a PM and didn't notice. I randomly found it when looking in my inbox 6 months later. It was an urgent PM asking about a coins condition, authenticity, and that he wants to send it out to PCGS next week, and wanted my opinion on if he should. Long story short, I still feel guilty for accidentally ignoring him!

No word yet I really thought I'd hear back today. This guy is probably on vacation for the holidays. Idk I'm telling myself its a good thing I haven't heard back.

So since I'm waiting I looked up this guys position at the BM. I thought he was a over all duty curator like the other museums I've been dealing with. Turns out he works in just one department. And since the other departments hit me back in a day or less saying they couldn't identify it. Makes me think it could be related to this his area of study.

I mean that they think it could be relevant to the department he works in.

This is interesting almost the same composition as my object around 10% zinc and less than %3 tin. And from what I've been reading you need 15% zinc for any modern brass making methods. The more I read the more it looks like a very early alloy I've found other ancient items online that match up. Still waiting

Found this while looking up bronze surgical tools. Anyone know what the items on the bottom right are called? Might be something along those lines

That is an oddity. I don't know if any copper culture artifacts were ever that detailed and complex.?? Defiantly interesting. I think I'd be emailing Scott Wolter and tell him I think I've got something on your ancient Minoan theory :dontknow:

That was my first thought looks Minoan... Near the mounds? Cahokia?

I never even heard of the Minoans until I posted this. I did get in contact with an author from Greece that's all about Minoans in North America said he would have the experts take a look and let me know. Never did hear back though from the Minoan objects I've found online it does have a similar look. Who knows they are covered by the Rome/Greek department at the BM so if I ever hear back maybe that's what it is keep em crossed
