Thanks for the idea. I recently found a 1943 Steel penny at a nearby CoinStar....

Your CoinStar is a little goldmine ! I should call them up and see about getting a machine set up in my driveway.

Just tried the one in my town for the first time...I found 2 pennies stuck together, both the new shield ones. But hey, free money, can't complain.

I know and it still amazes me that some people walk away from the rejected coins.

Tried again, came up with nothing...unless you count kinda a dirty look from the lady at the customer service counter.

My wife still doesn't believe what someone left behind at my local store a couple months ago. I checked the machine and started pulling handful after handful from the reject tray. I put it all in the pouch at the front of my hoodie and tried not to look stupid walking through the store with it hanging down near my knees. When I got home I counted up just over $15 in modern change.

Success! In a manner of speaking. Could only get a bag of pennies from my bank, as they did rolls with the nickels and dimes from the different branches today. So, dejectedly, I saw the coins tar at the grocery store and figured why not. $1.45 in it15281498781691207103713.jpg

Amongst which was:

Not a bad consolation prize.

VP, you're certainly doing a lot better than I am. I checked yesterday again at the local Lowes Foods. It has been since October 27, 2017 since I've found anything.

It feels kinda like it got popular around here. My last find was: 9 pennies, 2 nickels, 2 dimes and 4 quarters + a 2005 Bahamas quarter for $1.39

Nothing here since :(
