Coinstar Finds

dawg, look at me or em, we gotta sing so we don't put rings around our lips. imagine how bad everything would get, nothing would rhyme nothing would rap, no silver to a dime, life would just be one heck of a trap.

I tried one of those coin machines at a truck stop a few years back and did pretty decently. My secret was to gently rock the machine back and forth when I dropped in a quarter. I turned $.50 into $10.00 :laughing7:

I wonder if you could just put washers down inside of it?

I believe the magnet on the bottom of the coin slot would catch them. If they were non-ferrous they would just be ejected.

Well the first store was a bit of a letdown, but I still got my first day of more than a dollar in clad since October 16. I will do the coin pusher gambling tommorrow, guaranteed there won't be too much ice from Euclid in the morning.

December 26

- $1.08 in clad
- 2002-F Germany 2 euro cent

Well, I lost about $10.50 on Thursday, and $1.75 on Saturday. I did get a Denali and two Hawaii Volcanoes quarters, which I needed for my collection. I also cannot find my coinstar tool, so I may have to get some steel or nickel and make a new one. I did get a 1953-D wheat cent on the ground today, only my second ever wheat cent for free other than Coinstar wheaties.

May I ask what is this tool you speak of? What does it look like and what'a its purpose?

We have a Coinstar machine in the store where I work, and I check it everyday. The one thing I've noticed is that it hates Silver coins & dollar coins,it's also where I find all my coins from other countries.

I haven't had much luck with coinstar machines over the last few months. I moved back to my home town in February and found a silver dime and war nickel with a month of being back but since then I've found only clad and foreign coins and they have been far and few between. I've done much better with the penny arcades and I'm starting to learn which banks produce the most from the reject tray. One of the banks will even let me swap out clad halves for the silver ones I see in the $100 halves bag (this has only happened twice). My father has a lot of luck with Penny. He found two large Canadian Cents, a silver Malaysian coin (i'm pretty sure that's where it's from) and a sterling silver necklace piece with a Saint on it.

Post a picture of the Malaysian coin.

Hey Sag, do you get a lot of weird looks?

If I got down on the floor to look under the machine I would be asked to leave and never come back, but I'm also in my late 20's. When I was a young huck I definitely got down on the ground to look under soda and candy machines but I was finding money to spend on sodas and candy.

Not really, many people just ask me what I find, or encourage me to find more.

One store said I could "damage the machine" and told me I can't search. At least I found a clipped dime right before that.

What exactly is a coinstar tool?

a big giant stick, (optionally) magnetized, curved, to get all the good stuff out from under the machine. these ain't so simple to use, and if'n you used one in my neck of the woods, you'd be asked alot of questions and kicked out of the grocery store. Sag makes and sells them for $150 a piece, if you want one send him a PM.
