Coinstar Finds

Had a sweet score from a Coinstar last night I couldn't wait to share! Along with $2.00 of other change, we scored:

YES! That's a 1917 Walker (no mintmark)! These are our first silver halves found in a Coinstar. Man, I'm dying to know what made it in to the machine...
 

Nice find. I wish I kept track of how many coins I've found in coin stars over my years of coin hunting
 

I just joined the Steel Penny Club. Judging by the number of people who report finding them in the reject bin, I'm amazed at how often these turn up.

It's not that amazing when you realize that between Philadelphia, Denver, and San Fran mints, they made over 1 billion steel pennies in 1943. So they are not exactly rare.

They're not rare, but I don't recall ever seeing one in pocket change. Now that I think about it, the six silver dimes I've found in the last two months are three times as many as I saw in circulation the previous twenty years.
