Hi all, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. I had a little luck on Saturday and thought I’d share and maybe keep the fire going for the few that still detect gold on here. I detect on most weekends and get my share of skunks but I do find some gold sometimes. This spot is pretty hammered over the years. I’ve done well here and been skunked many times. Unfortunately the transients have been taking over and trashing the area, it’s disgusting. Public ground open to anyone and the bums have destroyed it. Back in the day I could hike around there all day and not see any evidence of other people. Those days are gone and our detecting ground is shrinking. On the bright side I got another fat nugget!

Dang! You're gonna start a stampede
Yeah go back out to your old spots! Ya never know what the next target will be! My intention was working the bedrock in the dry creek which I did for a while with just some trash targets, I just brought the vlf for this. After I started hearing people up the creek moving my direction I decided to walk over the hill to the next creek bed, there’s some small old workings going back down the hill that I have been through plenty of times. I was moving sorta fast because I was heading to the bedrock below and didn’t expect this nugget to be where it was. The detector sounded off loud and read 4 on the equinox 900. I was 99% sure it was a big hunk of lead. It was only 2 inches deep!

Magnificent bit for these days. đź‘Ť
Most areas here are being trashed by the new breed of detector operators. They rarely fill the holes, leave rubbish, churn up ground in national park and historical areas and couldn't care less. Used to be rare, now its the norm.
But yeah, congrats, great nugget.đź‘Ť
