Coinstar Finds

Actually, the coins came from under the machine, not in the reject slot. I barely find anything in the slot. My finds are almost always from under the Coinstar. I've found about 8 silver dimes and a semi-key silver quarter (1936-D), plus probably like 50 types of foreign, including a silver 80% South African 3 pence from 1943.

Do you just reach under the machine

More important- is it the same machine everyday? or do you do a coinstar road trip? :laughing7:

I look at the machines that are in the stores I shop at. I use a tool for looking under the machine (which I posted pics of earlier on this thread), and a flashlight.

I looked at a coin star machine last night and found nothing...

I still haven't found anything left over at coinstar. People around here must be too greedy to leave anything behind. I did find a silver Washington in a cash register at work today.

Like Sag says, you don't really find much in the reject slot. You have to look under and around the machine. I don't use Coinstar very much, but bank coin machines have produced all kinds of good reject finds for me.

I found my first coinstar Merc last wek, and I gave it to my brother, because it was his wedding day! A fine Fine good luck charm. I believe it was a 44 p

Just found my first silver in a coin star. Also it is my oldest foreign coin found in a coin star. After a bit of research on this coin, I found that all coinage for Cuba during this time was minted in Philadelphia. The coin was minted from 1915-1949. So the one I found happened to be the first year for this coin. If I read correctly, there was a total of around 7,000,000 minted in 1915, with 4 different varieties. The rarest variety could be worth up to $150 to the right person. Not sure which variety I am holding on to. I am still trying to talk myself into counting the reeds on the edge. AND it is a 90%er, so that's always a good day.

Lots of replies so won't be able to read them all. But what's the deal with coinstars. I've only seen the machines from a distance. Would it be fairly simple to just go search the reject slot and be on my way. I have always wanted to do this, cause you figure some people can't be bothered or just don't know that stuff could be rejected. I kind of feel weird doing it so just hopefully it's fairly easy to look and be done.
