Based on the wealth of info that you guys have shared here, i think I've figured this one out, just want to be sure.

If I'm wrong, please tell me!

Copper Alloy button, one piece, stamped (broken shank), floral pattern.

Circa 1760-1790s? ? (Fits with property history and found scabbard that also may date to that era)
Sometimes called a "Dandy " button? Maybe "gilt" button?

thanks !!!

That type of Dandy button, made of rolled (not cast) brass, with an "applied" (not integrally cast) loop, is believed to date from about 1790 on through the 1830s.

Thanks CBG!
Have a spot that has yielded some good stuff, and have only worked a relativley small part of it. Don't want to overstay my welcome, so it's a visit every couple of weeks.
