🥇 BANNER Bottle with a note inside 5 to 6 inches deep in the ground.

Quickly written on whatever was at hand. Some reciepts that were laying around. Hastily buried so as not to be found by da boss. Perhaps someones last words. Go back rodgerdodger !! Search some more. Who knows what youll find.

just wanted to congratulate you on this amazing find

Looks like its a banner. Congrats rodgerdodger !!

Congratz on a nice find! i usually put my two cents in on some observations, but I think the other sleuths here are doing a great job!

My first thought when i posted this was that i thought the cap was glued to a cork was wrong and what i thought was cork was only the paper rolled up and stuffed in the end. The cap must not have been very tight on the bottle and when i hit it with the shovel it fell off making me think it had a cork in the end.

Thanks for all the replies and likes. And thanks for the Banner.
For all of you who don't know this is the 2nd. bottle i have found with a note inside and i posted it on here someplace. That one never amounted to much.

the link i posted about the park, says some of the prop was acquired
at dif dates, and i think 2 had names of seller, another lead maybe
ill keep working this puzzle/mystery in spare time, see what i can find

Come on dogger whats it say.

I find it fascinating that the butchers report with readable dates are from February 1901. My instict is to find an early 1900s historian who may be more familiar with the writing style. BTW is this written in pencil?

Hi Mzjavert. I had to go look in the garage to make sure .They were wet when i scanned them so i put them between white paper to dry. Yes it is in pencil.

after deciphering the code it reads
" here I am alone on this island dreaming of jeff gordon. I hope he got my message to meet me here to help me spend a couple hundred thousand having a fun weekend.
I fear he did not as I am here and he is not, oh my breaking heart!"

it is signed

I'd suggest a trip to a local library, historical society or genealogical library to try to track down the names. Either the 1930 0r 1940 census might help, and if there is a soundex available that would be even better. I do not think the writer was a great speller and was pretty much writing things as they sounded. Find some names and go from there. 1936 local papers may help, or even early 1937, and if there are city directories for those years, I would check them. Just check every possible spelling that might sound the same.

Tuff to read. What I think I see here

Incredible find! Congrats! I'd love to know the full story behind the note, very interesting stuff!

Just my two cents on this incredible find.

The quarry was also the site of the Rochester State Hospital (Asylum) opened as Minnesota Inebriate Asylum in 1879 (for Alcoholics)
With the Quarry and the Hospital there were supporting businesses and farms that sprung up to support the town, dairy, farm and a Slaughtehouse among them. Thus the notes being written on tickets for a butcher,

what I deciphered

THE NIGHT BEFORE

HOUSE SO THEY
DIDNT CATCH

ME

Although I initially thought the note was about a robbery I am actually beginning to think it is the story of a disgruntled worker who felt he was "robbed' of a promotion for whatever reason and in his drunken rage felt that the person writing the note was partly responsible and wanted him dead. In his drunken rage he also wanted to kill his boss and anyone in his way of the promotion.
Fearing for his life the author of this note wrote the events as evidence in the event he was found in his hiding place.

Just my thoughts, Interesting either way.
