Banning guns keeps people safe huh?

Definition - someone who wants to do harm to themselves or another.

I could also turn the question around to ask when in the modern america has positive change has come from the gun and violence?? You think the civil rights movement would have succeeded if the broad movement would have taken up arms. A violent action merely provokes a violent response.

So our forefathers were wrong and should have protested the English in both the Revolution and 1812?

Well the war of 1812 was a war between nations and was not settled on the battlefield but was settled via a negotiated peace.

Yes the revolutionary war started by numerous protests as all the colonists want was simply parliamentary representation. Frankly if the king and parliament had half a brain they would have agreed to some form of colonial representation.

And no offense but if you are going back over 200 years for your examples that should prob tell you something - right??

And what positive social change in this country has ever been brought about by the gun / violence in the last 200 years??

OOps and all this time I thought the Star Spangled banner was written during battle in the war or 1812, the white house was burnt down, battles all over the U.S. were fought from Boston to New Orleans to Detroit over 7000 U.S. casualties where part of the negotiations. The Treaty of Ghent ..... LOL what! The war continued for 7 months after that until the British pulled out of the U.S. What war was not settled via negotiated peace after one side was defeated?!?!

Is 70 years to far back? How about the The Battle of Athens?

How much good do you think the taking up of arms did the south during the civil war?? Civil rights , universal suffrage, etc etc name one right that an American group has gained through violence. Violence begets violence - pure and simple.

Please are you joking. If that is the best the "pro gun" lobby can come up with..,

Any person droping a criminal defending their property, family, and society. The off duty officer ending the Oaklahoma mall shooting with her personal firearm. Gentleman ending the cafe robbery in FL. The 16 year old boy shooting the man attempting to rape his little sister.

What is the battle of Athens?

The south did not take up arms untill after the north attacked first. They peacefully left the union by vote and succession.

Correct if I'm wrong, but weren't the first shots fired by South Carolina against Ft. Sumter? I believe that this was a Federal Fort.

True but is is very debated because the battery commanders orders were not to fire and let the Union leave the Ft.

The South fought for state rights, you fight for something you believe in..... Lincoln offered the South a chance to return to the union and in exchange he would guarantee slavery with a constitutional amendment, the South turned it down........

Some may not understand that, but there are people who are willing to fight and die for what they think is right, even if you know they are going to lose..... Our independence was fought for even though many thought it was a lost cause, The Alamo is another to come to immediate mind, they fought a battle they knew they would lose, but they fought for what they believed.....

Soliders join the military because they believe in our country and want to defend it.... There have been countless battles where the outcome was known to be a lost cause but they still fought because they fought for what they believe in....

Problem is when the "people willing to die" take a lot of the innocent down with them. Suicide bombers are willing to die for their cause and I find it disgusting. You want to die for your cause - fine, kill yourself. Violence has always caused far more harm than good.

And in the end was the south better off taking up arms or should they have negotiated a settlement?

just watching proudly as Picker has been back a couple days without getting banned again

Remind me how many innocents they took with them at the Alamo?

From the Pro second amendment guy.

Pro second amendment but not a radical guns right person. Some of you guys are so extreme the rest of us look "liberal" and anti gun in your eyes.

Do you really want to start talking about civilian casualties in wars?? Are you serious? Dude come on. You can be pro gun, but at least be honest about things.
