Avagos Goodies

Had a blast half box hunting in February, turned out to be our fourth best month EVER! Found loads of BU 1964's in a collection dump that spanned a few boxes.

48 Boxes ended up yielding 59 x 90% and 81 x 40% for a total of 33.32 ozt including four Franklins, two Walkers, a 2004-s modern silver proof and a 1976-s 40% silver proof.

Also found our first GOLD! Found a 1.7 gram 10k gold ring while dumping via coin machine, a nice little bonus to make up for getting shorted by that same machine.

Hi All,

March started out great for us, the first couple weeks turned up some remnants of February with a small handful more BU 1964's. That soon dried up into TERRIBLE results for the last three weeks of the month. Results below:

Week ending 3/2: 12 boxes searched, yielded 5 x 90% and 9 x 40% for a total of 3.14 ounces (including 2 Bens)

Week ending 3/9: 12 boxes searched, yielded 13 x 90% and 9 x 40% for a total of 6.03 ounces (including 2 Bens)

Week ending 3/16: 10 boxes searched, yielded 0 x 90% and 7 x 40% for a total of 1.04 ounce

Week ending 3/23: 8 boxes searched, yielded 3 x 90% and 0 x 40% for a total of 1.09 ounce (all from one box, +7 x skunks)

Week ending 3/30: 8 boxes searched, yielded 3 x 90% and 1 x 40% for a total of 1.23 ounce

Really fell off a cliff there at the end. Searched 26 boxes and came up with 21 skunks, ouch. Oh well, you can't find it if you're not looking!

Speaking of which, we are going to be on a CRH hiatus until June at least as our bankroll is going to be tied up in preparation for our first home purchase! We close on the first of June so it will probably be better to have the funds stationary in the bank instead of flying in and out, thousands at a time.

See you then!

Congrats on the house. That last month before settlement is sooooo stressful. Hopefully some of that silver makes it my way now that you wont be sucking it all up.

Good luck with the house! Hopefully while you're on break boxes will start improving so they are good when you get back into the game.

Just a quick update! Nearing in on the closing of our house so hopefully we will be able to jump back into CRH shortly! I also noticed I never posted our most spectacular find in my log!

After finding the seated half in our last box we searched...

...I've been dying to pick up a box or a roll here or there but just haven't had the time. We did get lucky last night at the Coinstar. Big pile of coins in the reject tray yielded some nice silver goodies!

Two Walkers (one 1917!), a 40% and a silver Roosie! Gives me the silver itch... soon, soon we should be back in the game albeit with a smaller bankroll for awhile.

That is amazing! I can't imagine finding that in a reject tray. Congrats!

Well, we've been back in the hunt for 4 weeks now and have had varied results. The first couple weeks back were some of the best hunting we've had in some time! But the latter two cooled back off into the typical 1-2 silver per box average we're used to.

Week 1
Box 131-134 :: 4 x 90% and 15 x 40% including 1942-D Walker

Week 2
Box 135-142 :: 14 x 90% and 41 x 40% including 3 Franklins, 2 Walkers and a 1908-o Barber; Awesome 8 boxes @ 11.13 oz and 6.88 silvers per box!

Week 3
Box 143-150 :: 7 x 90% and 15 x 40%; A more modest week but still good hunting. Our high silver box streak ended this week at 16 in a row so far this year.

Week 4
Box 151-158 :: 2 x 90% and 6 x 40% including a 1976-S silver proof; 5/8 skunks this week, only 1 silver per box average, yuck!

As you can see we're also hunting only 8 boxes a week or so where we were previously doing 10-12. Might try to get those numbers back up! Here's hoping July brings a dream box! Only some of the month's finds are pictured below.

Hi All,

Long time, no post! We hunted through July so I'll post those results below. We took off all of August as we were out of the country getting married! Went directly on the honeymoon so needless to say, no time for CRH! We're back now and should be resuming hunting starting with a four box order tomorrow!

July was actually one of the worst months we've ever experienced :( We hunted 40 boxes and only came up with 7.05 ounces which is measly for five weeks of hunting.

Week 1
Box 159-166 :: 1 x 90% and 0 x 40%; About as bad as it gets, except the 90% was a 1936 Walker in the last box of the week

Week 2
Box 167-174 :: 1 x 90% and 1 x 40%; Such poor results, again the only two silvers were in the last box of the week

Week 3
Box 175-182 :: 1 x 90% and 15 x 40% including a 1944 Walker

Week 4
Box 183-190 :: 0 x 90% and 7 x 40%; Just over an ounce this week

Week 5
Box 191-198 :: 3 x 90% and 10 x 40% including a 1954, 1957, and 1963D Franklin

For the volume we hunt our results should have been better. 27/40 were skunks and we only averaged 0.176 ounces per box (which I find is the best way to track and compare to previous results.) The last week helped bump the numbers up for sure.

Almost forgot to mention, sometime that month I snagged my best teller tray score, 19 x 40% :icon_thumleft: She knew what she had but let me take them anyway since she kept a solid roll of silver dimes earlier in the day.

Here's hoping there's a silver wedding gift in our boxes this week. Happy hunting!

Congrats on getting married. You all are doing amazing volume. Good luck.

September was a nice month for us. Historically it's been a consistently-producing month. Would have liked to do a few more boxes, but nevertheless the ones we had tallied up nicely.

Week 1 :: 4 boxes
Box 199-203 :: 2 x 90% and 2 x 40%

Week 2 :: 4 boxes
Box 204-204 :: 0 x 90% and 22 x 40%; Twenty of the twenty-two were from just one box! Wish I would have picked up some more this week!

Week 3 :: 8 boxes
Box 205-212 :: 5 x 90% and 11 x 40%; Not breaking any records, but pulled 3 Franklins this week.

Week 4 :: 8 boxes
Box 213-220 :: 5 x 90% and 30 x 40%; Nice 6.25 ounce week, had two boxes with 10+ silvers :icon_thumleft:

Week 5 :: 12 boxes
Box 221-232 :: 4 x 90% and 36 x 40%; Finally upped my searching to where I want it to be. Paid off nicely with a 6.77 ounce week! Had one box with 1 x 90% and 16 x 40% and the rest produced pretty consistently.

So for the month of September we searched just 36 boxes (low considering it was a 5-week month) and pulled in 16 x 90% and 101 x 40% for a total of 20.73 ozt, averaging 3.25 silvers per box. Great month tacking on to our yearly totals! We surpassed the 100oz mark on week 4 of this month, hoping to get another 40-50oz by the end of the year if we're lucky!

Still haven't gotten out to do much bank hopping for loose and CWR halves, maybe one day this month. Happy hunting everyone!

Thats a great avg number of silvers per box. Glad to see you pulling good silver still!

Hi Everyone, time for my dismal October update. Looking back, it's the 5th worst month on record out of the 37 months I have been keeping track. This is in terms of ounces per box, my best way to gauge average results over time.

It's not really even necessary here to give the weekly breakdown. I'll just summarize that we searched 38 boxes which only yielded 3 x 90% and 29 x 40% for a total of 5.37 ounces (0.141 ounces per box) and 0.84 silvers per box. Just terrible! That's a lot of time an energy for less than $75 bucks worth of silver.

You can't win every month I guess. Here's hoping we're able to finish out the year with better results!

Not a whole lot to report from November. Unfortunately turned out to be our worst month on record, ranked 38/38. Ugh.

We averaged just 0.081 ounces per box. We did 40 boxes that yielded a total of 3.24 ounces. Last week's ten boxes yielded ONE Franklin. Month's total was 2 x 90% and 17 x 40%, just enough to cover the gas to pickup and dump.

It can't last forever, right...?

Keep on keeping on. My Sept and Oct were awful but then Nov was pretty good for me. It will come back.

Something has changed. I don't know if TD machines closing is involved. But something has changed in the region. My November was also abysmal. Might also set a record low. 17 box skunk streak here.

Look at it this way... There's only one way to go from here :icon_thumright: here's to an awesome December,

December roundup, in brief...

26 boxes searched, 21 skunks (81%)

From the other 5 boxes, 8 silvers found: 2 x 90% and 6 x 40% for a total of 1.61 ounces. That's 0.062 ounces per box, if you're keeping track. Even worse than November!
