- I had to sideline for awhile, too much quarreling, brand defensiveness, and seeing certain people waging war on others. It got to be too silly for me after awhile..

At my ripe old age of 69, I have never (except on the TV show called "diggers") ever seen men that age show such childish behavior. I know that some people get exited a lot easier than I do, but those guys (and yes, I know they are acting) behave like two 9 year old children who just saw their first unclothed woman in a dirty magazine somewhere in a pile of trash, when all they found was a wheatie or a civil war button..
I don't know any (real) adult men who act that way unless they are purposely wanting to act like a fool, and I would be totally embarrassed to be in their company too. I would consider it beneath my personal dignity to consort with or associate with them. In fact, it most certainly must not be a good thing for a detectorist's positive good image either, since similar silly behavior has already given us names like "scrounge", "Bum", no-account, "welfare recipient", lazy, unemployed, and "jobless". A better composure and a more dignified mannerism is what we need to project, not the doltish foolery portrayed in the series, all in the name of "acting"..
At times I wonder if the National Geographic Society has put them in up to it for that very purpose, to try to make them look like buffoons and bums in order to help to wash us out of our right to use metal detectors.
Nevertheless, I would refuse to go metal detecting with men who behaved like that, they would be to me akin in the game hunting world as someone who shows up to stalk deer while their car alarm goes off. That show embarrasses me so much that I most surely hope that my European constituents don't ever think I am like that in any way..
