This is the second treasure fleet coin in the last couple weeks !! And it's the second time I've found a treasure coin on Friday the 13th !! What are the odds....that's just crazy luck. I found my avatar on friday Oct. 13th 2017, and now this one today friday sep 13 2019. It's a little one or two reale....I'll have to weigh it. It's a beautiful little heart shaped piece....looks to have some good details left too. Strong north east winds are making conditions ideal.....I've got to pound it before my conditions window closes. Guess lightning can strike twice !! Here it is as dug. One of the Cleanest ones I've ever dug. 20190913_161657.jpg

Big congratulations BB. It is amazing what a foot less sand will produce.
You are past good luck and it is because of your PIS (Persistence In Searching):laughing7: , knowledge and timing.

What was your process to clean this one so easily?
My apologies if you already mentioned how, as I jumped ahead to reply after 4 pages.
(BTW: My like button is getting worn out. Go ahead and put me down for a couple of dozen!)

Thanks pete.....this one came out of the sand relatively clean.....a solution of 90% water and 10 percent muriatic acid and about 15 seconds of immersion. The reaction stopped in 5-6 seconds. After that a little tinfoil and baking soda and viola !! Took very little time to clean because I have to believe it was high in the dune just days before I found it. It was sitting up there undisturbed for 286 years, and now shes born again !! All I found yesterday was galleon glass frags.

Galleon glass and 1 reale cobb.

Lots of iron spikes...pot shards from olive jars, some decorative iron bits, and a clump of preserved indigo cake. I often walk the beach first for eyeball finds.....and yes I have eyeballed at least 3 treasure coins here over the years. 20190915_102555.jpg

Thanks diggingthe1....I'm blessed to have been raised in the islands. so much history has run the gauntlet of the gulfstream between cuba and the keys that some of histories bones are washed up on our reefs and beaches. It's a great feeling to rescue these bits and pieces of history....even if they are just rusted spikes, pot shards, and bottle tops and pieces !!

Thank you my friend....happy hunting silver monkey !!

Just amazing! Congrats on your Spanish silvers!!! I was listening to the radio on Friday and the day has some interesting history... Hopefully I have this right but Friday the 13th was seen as unlucky for a long time. Back in the 1800's there was a guy in Boston who started a club for people who felt that there was no such thing as bad luck and they would do things like walk under ladders etc. He wrote a book about Friday the 13th and owned a giant sailing ship.. shortly after his book came out the ship sank off Italy in the early morning of get this.... Friday the 13th!

Wow that's crazy.....I'm not sure what to think about the fri 13th thing....but one thing is for certain, I will be hunting every fri 13th from now until I can no longer hunt any more !!
Thanks xcopperstax happy hunting my friend !!

Killer! And what's kinda cool, the fleet took sail on Friday the 13th, in July.
Kudos, Carl

Ya it just blows my mind that I've found cobbs twice on fri.13th from a ship that sailed to its doom on a fri. 13th. Sure does make one think about the superstitions that we all have knowledge about.....thanks curbdiggercarl57 !! Happy hunting

Big congrats on the great find! :occasion14:

Great save BB! Amazing how long that baby has rolled and tumbled around in the ocean and Boom..It's sees the light of day again. Boy if it could talk..:notworthy:

Thank you silver tree chaser, it has been a real honor to save these little minted pieces of history !!
