This is the second treasure fleet coin in the last couple weeks !! And it's the second time I've found a treasure coin on Friday the 13th !! What are the odds....that's just crazy luck. I found my avatar on friday Oct. 13th 2017, and now this one today friday sep 13 2019. It's a little one or two reale....I'll have to weigh it. It's a beautiful little heart shaped piece....looks to have some good details left too. Strong north east winds are making conditions ideal.....I've got to pound it before my conditions window closes. Guess lightning can strike twice !! Here it is as dug. One of the Cleanest ones I've ever dug. 20190913_161657.jpg

Pine Island is still considered "Old Florida", no beaches, all mangroves keeps a lot of the tourists away... Not a stop light on the island! Not much to do there if you don't like boating and fishing. St James City, They like to say it's a fishing village with a drinking problem or a drinking village with a fishing problem... hahaha

That's a beautiful find. Congrats

Thanks slider....the tide is low so it's time to go !! BBL.

I have friends on Pine Island on the South West Florida coast and like to spend time there. Rented a place for a few months over the winter there last year. Haven't come across any affordable vacation rentals in the Keys. I have been there quite a few times, love it! You're livin the life!

Pine island? You mean the drinking town with a fishing problem? That one?

Banner again my Friend gettiing a little greedy arent we lol. That would be so freaking cool to find a clump of cobbage. or a piece of coral encrusted with dubloons or washed uo Eel full of reales. lol sorry .Well done do I hear three.

Always a dream of mine to walk the beaches, detecting for shipwreck silver!!! NICE!!!!

More genuine pirate treasure, sweeeeeeeeet find! Congrats

i have seen WAY better cobs and coins and such ... but to find one, even if it is worn to a nub, is PRICELESS!

Tommy I tried real hard for 3 in a row.....but....it wasn't meant to be. I pounded it hard most of the day....only trash. The one dime I thought was silver turned out to be clad !! Back to reality !!

Thank you unclemac......I was pretty happy with this little 1 reale.....its got at least some details left, and was much better shape than the eight reale from a couple Saturdays ago !!

Well yesterday was strange....conditions were....well ...calm. my kid makes more waves in the bath tub. There was no wind and the cutting of the beach had obviously stopped. Now I see the winds are south west instead of north east. So we had nothing yesterday and now the cutting may come from the opposite direction. Take note treasure hunters, almost all of the cobbs I've found have been in the fall and winter......there is a season for this type of hunting....fall and winter !! It usually starts late September or early october. A tropical low or hurricane will come in September, the winds will shift offshore and usher in the fall and the summer pattern is broken. Once the fall begins the winds go offshore and the seaweed which piles up all spring and summer blows away and the beach hunting can begin for the winter. The summers are brutal to hunt, with rotting seaweed in piles 3 feet deep sometimes. So I'll let conditions work the spot this week and get back on the bottles up in the mangroves !! Hopefully I'll have some black glass bottles to post soon. I got lucky this season and got these cobbs pretty early in the season. I actually got these cobbs on the first days that this beach was huntable.....felt good to get a head start on the season. Happy hunting folks !!
