This is the second treasure fleet coin in the last couple weeks !! And it's the second time I've found a treasure coin on Friday the 13th !! What are the odds....that's just crazy luck. I found my avatar on friday Oct. 13th 2017, and now this one today friday sep 13 2019. It's a little one or two reale....I'll have to weigh it. It's a beautiful little heart shaped piece....looks to have some good details left too. Strong north east winds are making conditions ideal.....I've got to pound it before my conditions window closes. Guess lightning can strike twice !! Here it is as dug. One of the Cleanest ones I've ever dug. 20190913_161657.jpg

Having wreck hunted with you, I understand what kind of effort it takes to find one of those cobs. Twice is a charm[emoji823]

Thanks steve....that means a lot to me coming from you.....get your arse down here and let's try again !! Guest room is open to you buddy !! Thanks and happy hunting steve.

Are these washing in from a wreck, dropped on the beach by period salvagers or both

Wow...sorry toasted.....somehow your post/question slipped by me buddy. Anyway that's a yes on both. Parts and pieces of at least 3 galleons washed ashore in this area. The survivors washed in with the wreckage and quickly began to build camps from the galleon wreckage. I believe coins came from both the wreckage and the salvage op. They would have started to salvage almost immediately upon reaching the beach. What I'm learning is that the survivors camps all became salvage camps. the only other habitations would have been calusa indian villages !!
