12 INCH TROMMEL BUILD

Jay I am using old stock of valves from HD, these are not what is being sold today. If I have issues I will change them out. Its built now so will give it a try. Thanks for your input as its always good to have second opinions. Also thanks for the offer on the chute. This is what I had in mind.

What about a tailing chute at the end of the drum?
I took mine off and the tailing pile buried the legs of the trommel and sluice, not a real big deal but I put it back on.

Also I found that by placing a lid from a 5 gal bucket under each leg keeps them from sinking into the ground and messing up the level.

GG~

GG, I plan to have one so that it dumps into a wheel barrel so we can haul off the dirt, dumb, and scan for larger nuggets.

What is that, .75 sq tube and what does it measure in between? I need to know long it needs to be and how much drop.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Keith.

Nice! Now rest yourself. I say to assist you in your healing that everyone following this thread post a picture of Gold. Happy thoughts make for fast healing.

Ok, here's my latest from two short outings earlier this week, hope it takes your mind off the pain... image-855086519.jpg

My best pan last year. 15 grams. Covered in mercury but gold is gold.

Some California gold from the Coolgardie area..

This has only been seen by one other person in the forums. I had not made it available until now. This was found on the weekend that my buddy dropped off the barrels to Jeff. Little blurry as he (my mining buddy) is not good taking photos...

Nice Keith. Who says the nuggets aren't there. It's only a matter of time now. Me and a couple kids are going to drop off you hopper and then to the hills I go. Maybe, just maybe I'll be able to post my first nugget detected. If not that, then it'll be of sluiced gold. C'mon detector gods. Make that tone be a nugget.

I want to thank JustBent for donating this hopper that he had sitting around in his shop from years ago in the Phoenix area. GarrettDiggingAz and his kids were so kind to bring the hopper down to Tucson and drop it off. Garrett says JustBent has an amazing shop for producing anything made from sheet metal.

Here is a photo of the hopper clamped to the trommel. Width wise it’s a perfect fit. I will need to mod the box to fit my needs on the trommel as it was designed for a highbanker.

Any of the forum members needing some metal work you may want to PM JustBent, amazing quality and I am all about quality if you have read the forums for a while. Terry and I have exchanged a few words in regards to quality.

Lookin' good,

Great start on the hopper, after your mods it should work fine :icon_thumleft:

GG~
