🥇 BANNER Gold Coin Day!

Gold Coin Day!
I decided to hunt a party spot on the lake today here in Southwest Georgia. The water level is low and a lot of the beach is now exposed. About the fourth target in , I pulled something I didn't think I'd ever dig. I've been metal detecting since 1977 and have found several gold rings but never a gold coin. That changed this morning! I hunted for the chain but, was unable to locate it.

Now I have had a couple of decent years of detecting but nothing compared to THIS!

I found a decent fur trade site in the middle of the Michigan woods and was happy to have unearthed a couple pairs of scissors, musket ball, fire-steel, etc. The usual good stuff I love to find. I kept on until I got a decent deep high-tone and started whacking away (but being careful) and about passed out when I saw this thing sticking out from the roots.

This is a bucket-lister I never really thought I would ever see. A French silver...

🥇 BANNER Unexpected 1825-1835 Militia Waist Belt Plate! Rare Variety Too!!!

Unexpected 1825-1835 Militia Waist Belt Plate! Rare Variety Too!!!
Wouldn't have guessed in a million years I would be digging this up yesterday! Pretty standard yard hunt and my expectations were low. The house is relatively modern, but sits where an 1860's house once stood. I presume there had been lots of landscaping done during and after to construction, but it's not too far from the town center so I wanted to give it a try anyways. The first hour was the usual yard bits like aluminum, nondescript iron, and the occasional modern coin. I got to one spot that was filled with trashy overload signals and pulled out two zinc mason jar lids which...

🥇 BANNER WAR of 1812 CAMP FINDS* SWEET BUTTONS* BULLET MOLDS & MORE!

WAR of 1812 CAMP FINDS* SWEET BUTTONS* BULLET MOLDS & MORE!
Just got back from vacation and had a blast in upstate ,NY. Secured permission on private property and hunted a War of 1812 camp. What a rush pulling button after button! This place was absolutely mind blowing for us. So many buttons, gun tools, bullet molds, vent pick chains and flash pan brush tubes, musket balls and coins. I was up there in May before this last visit and had the same results. 1st photo is my total finds from this camp. The ground conditions were perfect and pewter buttons and coins came out in amazing condition. Sites like this are once in a lifetime and I will cherish...

🏆 HONORABLE MENTION Not a today find, but, the end of a ring return day.

Not a today find, but, the end of a ring return day.
5 weeks ago I found a large Texas A&M University class ring. I spent three days searching the internet trying to find the owner. I came across a department at A&M for lost and found class rings. I sent an email with all the pertinent information first.
After 3 days I went back to the website and found a phone number. I called the phone number and talked to a lady there and gave her all the information again and she said she would do what she could to find the owner.
A week later I received an email asking for some more information. It's now been 3 weeks since I had the last contact...

🥇 BANNER Found a cache of chinese coins

Found a cache of chinese coins
I went to a new location that some fellow detectorist told me about. I met a few of them there. And right away i started finding chinese coins. Then I found my first silver jewelry. So I switched to 4khz to hunt for deep silver but there was too much EMI so I switched to 10khz. After that I dug a few more coins. Then I got a faint signal and started digging deeper and deeper. About a foot down I hit some coins. And some were still stuck together. I kept pulling coin after coin. A Total of 130 coins came out of that hole. The coins that I have identified so far are from the Ming Dynasty 1674.

🥇 BANNER Is this 17g gold ring Freemasons or something else?

Is this 17g gold ring Freemasons or something else?
So I haven't posted in a while, but this one rang up on my Equinox 600, and I was pretty stoked. 18k gold ring, 17g.

I need some info on this, because I'm getting mixed reviews. Some say the motto "In Hoc Signo Vinces" makes it definitely Templar Masons, others say the scimitar makes it Shriners, still others look at the Maltese cross and say fireman! I'm sticking with Masons till I hear otherwise (there's a carving of a trowel on one side), but I need the thoughts of experts. If you need more pics, I'm sure I can do that.

I was hesitant to post this, because there is a name and location...

🥇 BANNER Still Shaking...1662 Massachusetts Oak Tree Twopence

Still Shaking...1662 Massachusetts Oak Tree Twopence
Greetings!

I'll keep this short. I returned to a section of woods where I recently found a William iii halfpenny and a nicely gilded Navy button. I hunted for about three hours without much to show for my efforts. I hit a reasonable signal along side a stream...not a great signal, but I figured worth a look.

At the bottom of the hole was an incredibly small coin. Thought it might be a trime...but seemed too small.

It wasn't until I got it home that I realized what I had found...a 1662 Massachusetts Oak Tree Twopence coin. Honestly, I...
