yankee jim bound

Might hit up Mineral Bar with the kiddo on Sunday. I'm getting jealous see everyones post here : )
Cold in the morning, decently warm in the afternoon. Hot when your working a shovel, LOL.

Its the third or fourth creek that runs right under mosquito ridge rd, down from foresthill. Looked for claim markers and none to be found an easy stop so I figure everyone from this area has been through it

Hey I know that creek! I actually had plans on going there tomorrow before I saw this post. I've been scouting new creeks lately to see what kind of gold they have. I tried panning around there before but I'm going to explore more areas there maybe upstream. Ill post tomorrow if I find anything.

Good luck. Unknown to me how deep that overb is and its probably been dug up in the last ten (or three) years, it all has. Rule of thumb: Right off the road k there's no gold. Gotta get out a little. Farther than most but its worth the trip my freind

Yeah last time I was there I was just digging around not too far from the road and didn't find much. Ill try getting way up above that waterfall and see what it looks like. Maybe do some sniping if there's good bedrock up there.

How's the flows recently? Heading up Sunday, just staying near the bridge with the kiddo.

The flow is low but on the rise I think I am just eyeballing it....... Just thought I would throw it out there KeepmeHumblelord is camped at at Mineral Bar for 3 or 4 days though I am not sure where as I have yet to visit but intend too saterday maybe sunday I have alot to do with the season here and roads are opening up to places I need to be. But anyway seems to be alot of people possibly goining up towards Iowa hill so quite possibley we will or have crossed paths already!!

NFAR Water level -20-23 March it hit a high of 2000 cubic feet per second. Right now it is a touch below 1000 cfs and I would think it is a bit on the chilly side.

Mad Marshall - that is some nice looking gold you have in your pan in the video. Enjoy yourselves out there, I'm at home nursing the shoulder...........63bkpkr

Thank you 63bkpkr I really do enjoy taking pictures and video just can't really make it pay for itself so I do it as kind of hobby of sorts.. I have also enjoyed all your pics and everytime you post I read it as it is always of value.. I suspect the time you are healing you are makin use of your time in other ways as you do not strike me as a person content to sit idle and wait.. I hope time heals all!!

+ 1 on the vid MadMarshall. I was watching when my daughter walked into the room, heard your music, and asked if I was watching something with pirates in it. I said -- I think so.

Got a question for the cal prospectors.

Are we allowed to use a pump (wether hand or powered) to empty water out of a hole in a gravel bar if its a certain distance from the river? Or is this considered dredging and therefore illegal?

I'm pretty sure it's legal. As long as you're just sucking up water and not gravel with something that's motorized. I think they can only bust you if it were going into a sluice box. I'm 100% sure hand pumping is legal..

Was at yankee jims today...great day to be out...found a little color...but I brought back 2 buckets with about a little more than 1/4 way full with dirt...I won't run it till I get home...to tired

Was at mineral bar again today. Found a couple little pickers and a lot of little specks . Can't wait for the roads to open down a little further

MY Brother Donavin and I was also at mineral bar today though we arrived late we only passed 3. We waited for the sun to the other side and then we nominated my brother( only one wetsuit) to be the one to ferry the equipment across the river wich took 3 trips to make sure all essientals remained dry.. Finally when Donavin and I saw that our clothes and shoes were on the other side we pretty much new we had no choice so we sucked it up and swam..The area we crossed is between Tounge and groove a class 4 and Zig Zag also a class 4..I think Donavin thought I was kidding when he asked where we headed and pointed to the other side and said about a mile downriver..The swim was no fun but it is always the results that matter.. My brother did well pulling a pennyweight in about 3 hours I only pulled a half gram Donavin, I would put about the same but I am not sure just eyeballing it. we stashed all the tools as we plan returning tomorrow and I expect it to be good as we will make better time and more confident in the crossing.. I brought the camera but left the memory card in the TV so I hope to get some Video of or crossing tomorrow and hopefully some good gold on Donavins(keepmehumblelord)last day in the area..

We were at Iowa Hill yesterday and the river was flowing pretty good. I could hear boulders constantly rolling in the river. Nothing to write home about, probably a few fly poop and a couple of flakes, but it was a great day to be out!
