yankee jim bound

Pennyweight is a trail on iowa hill road almost to the bridge. In the picture you can see the brown triangle that is the traulhead marker. The hike is 15 minutes to the river, and probably a half hour to the spot the old timer was talking bout

On a side note, I really love livin up here and would recomend it to anyone!

Well that sounds like a winner think ill try that. OK NO MORE IDEAS or ill spend all day planning for tomorrow again lol.

Ha! Welcome to my world every time I go out. Quit telling my wife where I was going for the day and started just telling hwr stretches of river, as it seemed like I never made it to the location I planned on working....
Btw, that pic was taken this morning, so that car might even stil be parked there...

Should b there in a couple hours. I would have left already, but alas Im dragging the kiddies along today. "LOOSING DAYLIGHT" I know, but what can I do (ten year old girls). Ill get in at least a few hours anyway

Well, I have come to the conclusion that I should never try to get out during the week...
The most frustrating damn thing, trying to organize three kids and a woman who all say they "want to come" just "wait till we go to the store" they say. And God forbid I go without them. THREE HOURS LATER, these people come strolling back. Sorry for the venting but, AAAAAAA!!!

I WILL BE THERE TOMORROW . EARLY TOMORROW DAMN IT.

Looks pretty nice to me, I'd take that all day long. Congrats

You talking about my profile pic? That's from the bottom of drivers flat rd last year. This is what I got from mineral bar last Sunday.

Thanks 419 - Almost forgot about the constant companionship of those little guys along rivers edge back in the day.

Well gentlemen I didn't make it out to mineral bar yesterday. My brothers knee is still on the mend and though he could make out all right it just aint worth further injury so we will wait a little longer..I hope all who went did well and had a good time as the weather was great..Friday I was out on the Iowa hill side and I spent the morning in a swarm of purple butterflies who decided they would remain in the area most of the morning. And on the hike out all the lizards running from place to place..Just out of curiousity every so often when hiking thru the tree and bushes I come across a very strong sent of BUBBLEGUM was wondering if anyone might be able to tell me what tree or plant it is.. Anyway Good luck to all gold seekers

Had fun this weekend got out twice. Mineral bar day one pic (nothin to write home about) mosquito ridge road (some creek) bad res on the second pic sorry.

3rd pic - forest fairyies? lol. Bet there's a couple ounces underneath that overburden in the foreground.

Just knowing that's a gold-bearing area and some experience in similar settings.

Its the third or fourth creek that runs right under mosquito ridge rd, down from foresthill. Looked for claim markers and none to be found an easy stop so I figure everyone from this area has been through it

This weekend total. Don't you love how the water amplifies the size by like 900x
