XP just updated the starter pack and lowered the price... :)

In my opinion multi frequency is a hardware limitation. If they could have run multi frequency they would have done it from the beginning.

I can't see them not being able to do it. I can see them deciding not to do it. Might have to do with the recovery speed? I just wonder if a single frequency can recover faster than multiple frequencies. I dunno. My cz21 recovers pretty darn fast and has two frequencies, but my excal is slow as a donkey. Especially when nulled out from iron!! And it's 17 frequencies

i got all horned up when i seen the advertising with photo's of the whole XP set up, remote and all for 800 and something. But, looking into it, that's not with the remote. Why would anyone want one without it? To buy remote separate, it's another 800. Just deceiving to show a pic of the whole set up for a price in an ad when that's not what you get. Buying one without the remote is almost buying a car with no engine. Sure, you could drive it going down hill's. haha. i will wait another year and see what the price will then.

It's still a cheaper price than a lot of people payed .But really it is a sound machine and you would probably Learn the machine faster and better without the remote.

Agree- I started with the starter pack with the 9" coil, but it did not take me long to go ahead and get the full setup, I just built the full setup around the larger 11" coil so that I would have two different coils. As I've learned the machine, the preset programs DO need some tweaking and you can do that with just the headphones (you just can't save custom programs). The VDI display is not required since it is really an "ear" machine but the horseshoe display does come in handy when hunting around iron.

Is this the product clear-out before releasing the V4?

Hello Jason :-)

V4.0 is a software upgrade, and will enable a few accessories to get connected (PP ..... and SaltWaterproof coil  )

yeah, using a tesoro vaquero for awhile now, it is my first detector. i know already about hunting with sound. am looking to get a decent digital and really like the xp deus and that remote looks to be good for additional info for actual detecting. i'm not into "starter" or "beginner" packages. i want to learn everything. i will wait another season and see where the price will be the beginning of next year. just a lot of dealers are showing photos of the whole set up on line. when actually, it's not with the remote. glad i did look into it further, instead of just ordering one. woman is ok with me spending 8-9 hundred. but, not 15-16 hundred. haha

I agree the visuals in all advertising is very misleading what you see should be what you get but that shamefully isn't the way of commercialized society

I got a decent price on a new RCWS5 from a dealer. Worth calling around and seeing atleast. Talk about needing a day off work though to go out and learn the ropes of this thing. Kind of thought the tones would be more defined.

What presets are you using? The number and definition of the tones varies with the various presets. And can be customized extensively.

Yea I will be adjusting them for sure. I just need a day to get out in the field and run over some items to hear the tones and adjust to my liking. Seems like it's a lot of field adjusting vs having it in your home and setting the programs. I set up a program to play with and took it out to try it and it was all wack. I think the coil was dancing while i was setting things and it threw it off scale. Gonna try deleting that set up and wait till i'm in a quiet field and set it again.

Yeah. A lot of field trial and error is required since it can be highly customized to your particular needs and preferences. Andy Sabisch who wrote the definitive guide to the XP Deus (I higly recommend picking it up at some point) said you can make the Deus sound just like an AT Pro if you want to since you can adjust the vdi tone response and frequency for each of the tones, individually. Also, see my post in the EMI thread about how to knock down chatter and some of the more arcane settings such as reactivity (response speed) and silencer. Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have questions.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that its best to initialize the coil in the air and away from metal objects (obvious) otherwise it can act whacky even with otherwise good settings.
