Haha... these guys really had to make do. This is another piece from the island. Completely in context with the other items.

gator I fell sorry for you
and I though I lived in a bad part of Texas.
I seen nice stuff come from fl.
but I guess it was all stuff they got by diving.

i know thay did not use that rough rock for a
Burnishing tool

Good stuff As far as lithic material did make it into South Florida. but it had to be brought in. I have some super nice points and artifacts made of Flint/chert, agatized Coral and they actually did make some nice stuff from shell.

I'm not sure how the picture looks but the flattened part is polished smooth. I would imagine hide was probably the final stage. sanding stone might have been a better choice of words

Gator, just a reminder.... Posting artifacts like mine is not seen as a virtue on here. But, man oh man do I have twins for almost all of that stuff! I'm serious!

I figured I'd blow it all out with one post.

People wouldn't even look at my first 15 post. Lol! Heck, I thought I had found the answer to all my questions. I guess I did, "rock" " geofact" "headbang"

Gator, on your shell napping tool and your pestles, where are the signs of tooling? I ask because I have 2 pieces really close to your shell napping tools, and 1 almost identical to your pestle. The 2 " napping tools" of mine, I think look pecked all over. The " pestle" that I have was kept because it was the only stone of that type in the area. Well, only one I have seen in that area. Just wandering what made you decide those were, in fact, tools??

Oh, the N threw you off. My bad! Well, really spell check's bad! Makes me mad, this thing doesn't even allow me to screw up on my own. That's one thing I do well. Apparently not well enough.

By the way, might want to leave that needle be!
