Will there be a new Tesoro for 2015?

I drool when I ride by the big beaches north of you along the lake shore. You are right about a ring or two and lots of hours to find them. This season I am going to concentrate on the water, but don't have any hopes of quitting my day job yet! If you want to hook up and hunt this season let me know. I would love to take that Xterra for a test ride.

Yup, north of us around Lake Superior would probably be worthwhile. Beautiful area too with quite a large population compared to the 4,800 people in my town.

There is plenty of ATpro bashing goes on also.....mostly in the head to head forum....the bashers were run out of the Garrett forum. They like to compare it in a unfair situation or against machines costing 2-3 times as much. I have machines and companies that i dont care for also, but i just stay out of their forums. I see it as, if you are happy with your machine, that is great! After all, we all do it for a hobby and enjoyment...

My whole point is I want to hear positives and negatives about a a machine before I spend money on it. Bashing and false praise don't help anything accept maybe ego's.

I drool every time I ride by them beaches north of you along the lakeshore. That water is so dam cold. Last summer Green Bay was cold enough to make you numb in the middle of the summer. If you ever want to hook up and detect, let me know. I would love to take that xterra for a test drive.

Wow a week ago I introduced the term fanboy. Man it has stuck around. In the end regardless of who you are we all have a right to defend, praise, or zing. I think part of the reason Tesoro is getting lambasted is due to asking us to name the cazador and then not a peep in 3 years from Tesoro.

I really want them to leave everything alone as far as mechanical design. I want it to look like the familiar Tesoro. I would like a tone switch to go from single tone to 2 tone. In single tone everything remains the same as it is now. In 2 tone have the iron tone break coincide with the disc knob. This would be identical to the MXT's 2 tone relic mode. That's all I would like to see, no radical new mechanical or electrical design with flames, gps, and all the other garb.

Fletch, you really are going retro! I really think they do need a facelift with those knobs & switches & tiny lcd panels. Especially if they plan to keep interest compared to all the modern looking detectors hanging on the walls. They have their niche & will only have a niche if they plan to stay in the last millenium.

Call me nostalgic but I don't want to see a Tesoro that looks like a Eurotek, Delta, Racer etc.

I agree with Fletch.....its the same with guns....i get sick of black plastic stocks that are so popular today. At one time a nice rifle was a thing of beauty, now every one just looks the same....

It's a function before form thing!

The goldbug pro could have been the new Tesoro .......sound like a lobo too

I feel the same way about Whites machines. I like the MX-5 with its newer design but when you hold and use an MXT with the old metal box and smooth control knobs it is something I hope they don't go away from.

What we are doing to find various metal coins and relics in the ground is still the same. Besides wanting more depth, separation or target ID, does every machine have to physically look like the new Minelab series to be able to sell? I think not, but what do I know.

There are only so many things you can do with the micromax design. 2 different frequencies, with or without threshold, with or without ground balance, 2 separate disc circuits, VDI or not, etc. Unless Tesoro comes up with a whole new platform/process, they're going to find it hard to remain competitive.

Tesoro has the best prices, best warranty and probably the lowest overhead costs...so why would they struggle? The only thing that matters to me is basic performance. Having 15 optional "programs" means nothing if you only use one of them all the time anyway. And what could these programs do except preset notch/disc settings, sensitivity settings etc. And why would you need to adjust recovery speed? Someone tell me why you would ever want to "slow" your machine down?

i personally like to keep it simple. set up the machine and hunt. dig the good tones. sometimes turn the disc knob to guess what it is. but, to keep swinging over a target multiple times, looking at the number. going through a push button menu to try and determine if you are going to dig it. is not for me. i will have it dug up, know for sure what it is and be moving on. to have an id number at 41-44 and saying pull tab, and passing over a gold ring is usually what a screen does. sometimes to much info can be bad thing.
