Doesn't the saying go

"It's always OK until someone tells you no"

and there's............"in Jersey everything's legal,,,,as long as you don't get caught'.......
why take the chance on getting caught??????

How about honesty, integrity, respect for other's property?

So where do you live??I will come over and start digging on your property!!!
As always you need to treat others and thier property as you want to be treated and when you are detecting, what you do not only reflects on you,but the rest of us in this hobby as well..
ALWAYS ASK PERMISSION....

.....don't you care about you're OWN butt????
like I said,,,,why risk getting caught?.........and Jeffro..........why risk getting shot???
............and all that negative Karma coming back around to bite you in the azz........uh-ah---no way; man,,,,,,,not worth it in my book........(and that's the one i go by).....
.......besides,,,,,,,i don't think we were put here to crap all over each other :(

....me thinks there IS a golden rule :)

Happy hunting to you tho........

I just told you "no". Welcome to TreasureNet though. :)

:D

I can't afford to trespass and break the law. And since I have more time than money, I'd be sittin' in jail. :P

I can't even ponder such questions... it's like wondering "why not steal that... nobody will miss it".

Welcome to TresureNet... get off my lawn. :D

What a newbie question....

If I was to catch someone trespassing on my property, I'd empty my pump shotgun towards them!

Night Stalker your thinking is on the ball. Never under any circumstances detect on others property with out permission!

If they were digging on my property, I'd have to let the dogs out.

it would depend.

If I caught someone detecting my property, I'd laugh about
it & wish them Luck.

If I caught a Gov official or Local utility Co.
There would be Hell up.

But that's just me.

Either way, it is still necessary to ask permission,
because nobody thinks like I do,
and it gives us a bad name.

I have ran into several property owners that won't let me hunt because of one local MD'er. He and his wife detect on peoples property without permission and only leave when asked to. When I found out about this I tried to mend the tarnished image they have put on those of use that deem respect and the proper thing to do over personal self greed. It will take time to mend that image, hopefully another doesn't come along and undo everything I am trying to achieve.

"Why even ask permission?" The actions of one MD'er has a direct effect on all of us MD'ers.

thats one of the reasons there are so many laws restricting the hobby of metal detecting. always get permission.

Why ask permission ?? So you don't screw it up for the rest of us ;D
Welcome aboard.

Trespassing is bad, getting caught is worse. I maintain a friendly relations with many farmers and landowners in my area so I can pretty much do as I damn well please as long as I'm discreet and clean up after myself. If that wasn't the case I might be forced strap a coil to my chest and belly crawl wearing a ghillie suit in the middle of the night. :P

I wasn't even going to respond to this ignorant question.. And after rethinking my decision I still wont. ::) ::)

Be nice now,

Just because he asked in an unusual way, Dosn't mean
he meant what he said.

It may have just been his way to get the conversation started.

At least he asked. ;)
