WHO WANTS TO DIVE FOR TREASURE

UNDER the wetsuit being the key, Pete :D Tom, I'll be the really white Texas guy with regular ole swim trunks.

Gerry, Welcome to Treasurenet! Your experience will be a welcome addition. And to 2nd Darren's thought...we always love pictures. SeaHunter will be along shortly to tell you about his site, it didn't look much like diving weather there today...he must be at the bar :D

Looking forward to meeting the gang and finally putting some faces to the names. With the combined knowledge you guys will bring, I should have to pay to get in...but don't get any ideas :P

i for one would be honored too participate in a gathering of people of whom i hold so much respect.
i can probably make it down to see ya ll also.
Ive been to Jupiter many times and think that would be a great location, Scott has a great site, close to the beach, generally clear water, and a good looking boat working it.

I look forward to meeting and working with all of you. With any luck Rio and I will have both our boats there and we will have some very productive hunts. I may even have some surprises in store for all of you. I think we could probaly find a place for everyone between the boats and my home.

I'm jealous Scott, stay away from MY bunk ;) The Bravo is looking good JAS, the SH is seaworthy again...if the seas will cooperate this will be one heck of a weekend. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you guys too...go for the gold is the word of the weekend right Scott?

hi again,
i must again state what seems to be profoundly occurring, this forum has attracted a group of people i have grown to deem as friends, meeting seahunter was another notch of conformation.
what the future brings no one knows but a finer group of people is not bread everyday and i can only say that seahunter deserves to dive for treasure..............

I agree Cornelius, it is a ship. And you ought to see it from the side, it is even bigger. And equipped. Joe showed me the whole boat and lots of equipment and introduced me to Tim. Great guys. Can't wait to see what the future holds.

The future does indeed look bright. I was talking to an old friend last night telling him of my upcoming adventure to Florida. I referred to you guys as "my buds from Florida". He asked me "now, are these friends, or just some dudes you met online?". I laughed and had to stop and think....yep, I'm really flying to Florida to go diving with a bunch of guys I've never met...hmmm. :D Normally that would seem an insane thing to do, but with this group I have no worries, and I do consider you guys to be my friends. Having Tulu in Belize validate Rio Bravo's bio made me feel more comfortable with the idea, but I would have gone anyways. When Tulu says you are a good guy, it is true...because he will just as soon tell me who is an a$$hole :D

I can easily see us all forming into a united front, each lending his skills and equipment for the good of the group. Who knows what we can accomplish, and we'll owe it all to Treasurenet!

Speaking of lending skills, if anyone here needs some website work, I'm a graphical genius ;) Seriously though, I used to teach web site design for The Art Institute Of Dallas and The Internet Institute, so I am pretty good at it. Several of you have websites with good data, but I could easily "spiff them up" for you with a professional look and feel. PM me.

Once you get comfortable talking about Speedos, friendship is a given ;D

Rio Bravo . This is a ship , not a boat . Whooooow . Cornelius
thanks cornelius
the plans are on the board for a larger salvage vessel that could support an expedition such as yours but progress is slow at the moment with everything else that we have going.

Hi Rio
Looks like it is starting to lay down. Do you want to come dive this weekend?

It has definitely flattened out Scott, hopefully the viz will improve overight too. Good luck tomorrow...save some for me :D

Cornelius
I am not an expert but it would seem to me to be more affordable to get a local boat. How much capital is neccesary for the expedition? How deep is the water? How far from land? Would you have to stay on site? What months of the year can you dive the site? I would like to know more. I am sure you have already posted this, but you have lots of posts, I wouldn't know which one.

Hi Cornelius
This sounds expensive. What do you estimate the cost of the first season to be? Do you have to pay the patrol boat? What percentage does the local govrnment want? What do you estimate the value to be in US dollars? Is there a readily available market for the china?

Hey Seahunter sounds like you're really interested. I found an old old wreck 70 miles due west of Sarasota in 167 foot deep water. I estimate it's a 16th century wreck because there is no wood left. I estimated the costs for a deep water recovery project. It would cost about $200,000 to get started on Cornelius's project. Add $1,000 to 2,000/day for expenses. The Indonesian govt. should provide the patrol boat for free, just to look out for their interests. A market for old china? Heck yes, you could sell it anywhere. The Geldermalsen china sold in Amsterdam for $15 million but there was also 149 gold ingots on board. The Indonesian govt. will take 50% unless they decide to take it all, Cornelius will probably want 30%, the divers (2) will take 10% each because of the risks involved, WOOOOPS! Nothing left!

Who can dive this weekend? Check out this water. I am ready to go, just need a couple mates. Send me a pm if you are available.
