WHO WANTS TO DIVE FOR TREASURE

Hello Scubaseeker
I put the "Seahunter" back in the water and it runs great. I had a electric windlass installed in the back and and chafing guards added to the blowers where they rub against the bottom of the boat. We are ready to hunt as long as the weather stays good. I drove out over the site today on the way back to the slip and it was flat calm and clear enough. Here are some pictures.

She's looking good Scott, glad to hear the cooling system is OK. I'd like to get together with any of you locals there (Robert, Rio, Chagy, Darren, Salvor, and whoever else I forgot) while Im there. I'll be hunting with Seahunter Oct. 7th and 8th for sure, and will be down there for a few days either side of that weekend. Come hunt with us, or come drink a beer or two some evening while I'm out that way. I'll be staying in Stuart probably, either at the campground or on SeaCaptain Drive depending on whether Bill is in town or not. He's in Europe right now...he left the keys to his boat for me :D

I'll have my cell with me, so if any of you can make it out at some point, PM me and I'll send you the number.

Have a blast, Jason. There are times I wish I was a local there. I'm in NC. Robert is in SC. Pete lives on the west coast of Florida and Chagy in the Miami area. Rio...aren't you from Texas, but just staying in Fla for now?

Anyway, we're rooting for you to find something to write home about ;D

Best to you,
Darren

BigC - I was looking at the St. Lucie inlet state park in Stuart, but there is also a private RV/primitive campground inland a few miles from Jupiter Inlet. I plan to do some beach hunting while I'm there, and visit a friend in Stuart. I'm a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kinda guy, so there's no telling where I'll stay.

Rio - SeaHunter has a day job, so I'm guessing we'll only be hunting his site on the weekend. The few days after that weekend would be great for me. I'll probably leave out early on the 5th, drive like a mad man and arrive in Florida either late on the 6th or early on the 7th. Dive all weekend with SH, and then have most of the following week to open. I'd love to spend a few days on the Bravo with your crew. I'm happier when I'm under water, so just give me the dates..I PM'd you my cell number.

Darren, I now HAVE stories, but I aint telling them here ;) With any luck Scott and I will stumble onto some good stuff. Regardless, I'll have pics and video from above and below the surface and will post a full trip report here when I return. Looks like at least i'll get together with Rio and SH, any others would be a bonus. You never know what the three of us might get into...but it will likely involve silver, gold, dancing girls, free flowing rum and the likes :D

Jason

Joseph, I'm hoping a little of both :) I brought back a bottle of One Barrell Rum from Belize just for this occasion. I've got a couple of Belikins too if you miss them :D I hope I can get more cash together before I leave, otherwise i might be camping on Scott's porch or sleeping in the Blazer ;) Thanks god gas prices have gone down some, but I've got to put two new tires on the THing mobile, get a front end alignment and an oil change before i leave too. I should have held off on the Belize trip, but i just couldn't pass up a deal like that.

Yuck! I hope that isn't slated to continue through the weekend??? I plan to leave next Thursday and be ready to Dive Saturday Morning, I guess I'll check the reports throughout the early part of next week and see how it looks. I suppose I could always postpone again...but I'm afraid I'm running out of time!

Jason

If the winds suddenly die down by Thursday, and the seas flatten out, conditions may be good by the weekend. It usually takes a few days of calm seas for the viz to come back.

I am itching to get back on the water myself!

Keep in mind Jason, we have some awesome springs to dive here-so your trip may not be a total waste. Or if you want, I can toss some old coins I have into my pool and you can dive for them.

:P

Scubaseeker
Looking forward to you coming. Hope the weather works. Maybe Gdaddy and Rio can join us for some diving. It would be a great group to work together.

Hey, you guys know the waters out there better than me, and I can easily postpone my trip for another week if needed. Tell me if you think this coming weekend will be good diving, or if I should maybe wait until weekend after next. It really makes no difference to me.

Thanks, and I'll defer to your judgement at this point.

Jason

Scott, are you planning to be in town October 20-22? I plan to be in the Orlando area that week and might extend my stay to do some diving with you guys - weather permitting. Jason, will you be around then? It would be great to have another get together of guys and gals from the forum.

Best,
Darren

I would love to joint you guys in Oct. lets make it a plan to meet in Seahunters site...I think Robert is going to be in town and I now Tom wants to joint us.....I am sure Pete will be there too.....

All the best,

Chagy........

Sounds like a plan to me, I think postponing my trip a week for better diving conditions looks like the smart move at this point. Man, if we could get Scott, Darren, Chagy, Tom, Pete, Robert and myself together, that would be superb! I know Joseph was planning on coming down also, possibly with some of the Rio Bravo crew also. This just might turn out to be quite cool! 8)

If I get to meet one or two of you I'll consider my trip a success, if the whole gang was there I'd be ecstatic. I'll schedule my remaining vacation time to leave Texas Wed. Oct 18th, be there with you guys the 20-22nd, and the drive back the 23rd & 24th. Scott, I hope all this works for you, and Joseph also. Sounds like a party brewing...who else is nearby?

Jason

Any of you guys wears a Speedo and I am not coming!
;D

Did Pete scare you off last time, Tom? Let's hope in this case, the vis in minimal ;)

Welcome, Gerry. You sound like a welcome sight for the forum guys here from the Pacific side. Maybe you guys can begin a party there. I'll defer to Seahunter to tell you about the Jupiter wreck. I'll speak for most when I say...post some pics of your finds!

Best to you,
Darren

I saw that Gaddy! The Speedo works well under a wetsuit.
