What was your FIRST metal detector?

It was a Bounty Hunter. I have a fisher now as well and a childs detector for my daughter.

I sure would love to be able to afford a minelab SE someday though.

Orange handled Radio Shack, a gift from my grandfather. At the time I thought it was great, I think I was 8.

A used Whites something, then shortly after a Whites 5900 Pro. I had something before those two that didn’t discriminate anything but I forgot what it was. Probably a mental block from all the iron I dug.

Bounty Hunter Tracker IV bought used for $50 from a friend this Spring. Just ordered a new ACE250 and pinpointer, should be here soon.

I was given an old BFO by my boss in 1986 in its original case which I still have. I think it was from the 1960's. I will dig it out for the name, etc. and post later. It is buried in my attic. Found a silver Rosie dime with it at a church and I was bit.

My first serious detector was a VLF Bounty Hunter Red Baron RB-7 with TR Discriminate. The faster you whipped it the deeper it went. Found lots of stuff with that thing. Saw one on EBAY a couple of months ago in mint condition with 3 coils and a factory hard case go for over 500. Believe it or not they still pull 100 to 200 in good used condition!!

Micronta Kit Detector, could find the family car at 3, or 4 inches...1970.....

I would say I was about 7 or 8 and I don't even think the thing had a brand name on it. Stole/borrowed it from the kid down the street. Had an orange handle with an on off switch and a small coil.

Got to use it for about half a day until dad saw what I did to the backyard lawn. Digging small plugs and filling them in was not my strong point. He must have made his point pretty well because to this day I hate to hunt anywhere but the beach. I think you an still buy these things over on the famous auction sight.

Got my first from my uncle used to be his. It's a Techna Inc, funny thing I just posted one of these asking if anyone knew anythin about it. Just bought a whites prism IV.
