What kinda mine tool is this ? What was it used for?

Old bent wire.....Our granfathers didn't make it across Africa and Europe poking in the sand with old bent wire.....I have seen wire bent like that Hanging in old tunnels used to hold up air and water lines in old Tunnels....I know some may think im argumenative with Gold tramp I just prefer hard facts over semi educated guesses....just because a wire was found near the Patton training grounds doesnt mean it was used By soldiers in training to find mines...sorry just my opinion

Actually Engineers were issued Probes in their kits It was aluminium alloy or brass alloy with a green wood or bakelite handle that could have extensions added...a wire could graze the edge of a mine and deflect and you might stand a chance of not feeling the mine .. Patton was training the men with the most advanced gear available...obviously troops would improvise as needed but, they trained with the gear they would be issued.

hey look a mine probe.......see how it is pointed also helps it get past obstacles straight and true....so it wont bend, like wire..I like trivia lets have more!

Yeah that for sure looks better than a bent piece of wire. But it's those kids in that picture that are truly amazing. Nerves of steel. I don't think I could ever be trained that well even if that probe was 15ft long.

Subsequent treat it's possible wipe out any scorpion nevertheless that's not exploration connected. Just how attack press this explosives in the soccer drills speed divots.

isnt that a improvised crevising tool used to pull out nuggets from cracks in bedrock whats it doing in the hard rock mine

Mine probe/crevising tool...makes sense. Actually looks a bit like a home-made lock pick gun, but that's not something the miners would have really needed.

I can take any one who likes to the site that we found this and more like it.
the area is littered with land mines and barbed wire.
it actually is a spot where the Gis were trained to find and destroy anti tank land mines.

If you could talk to an old timer or a present day bomb tek you would find out that the wire most certantly was made by a Gi for the purpose of finding mines.

The wire is galvanized stuff, the Gis used as tie down wires for temapary buildings and tents.

google earth Essex, Goffs Ca, and youll see the old camp site and air field.
