What kinda mine tool is this ? What was it used for?

To pull the fuse wires taught in the hole, after inserting the charge. TTC

I'll do that Herb. I go through Ludlow just about every month. I'll PM soon for a detailed route. Tnx. TTC

Snake checker?

I am with you Herb, for Mr. No Shoulders, it would have to be MUCH MUCH LONGER:-)

Maybe a gauge for classifying material for a stamp mill or crusher would be my best guess.

Ahh blasting charge inserter . Sounds like something real, let's see we're going to use high explosives and we need to insert the detonator into it what should we use here's a piece of wire. I like it !!

Beats my next guess , used to clear an air or water line. Air needed in a mine, water needed in the desert.

The fuse goes in before stuffing the charge. I sure wouldn't use such a flimsy contraption when around explosives! How about using it to retrieve a poke or something from a hiding hole, such as clues to follow to treasure site? TTC

no bodys got it.
next clue word play
essex 1940/3
mine tool
improvised in a dire situation
life or death
persons who used this whould have been younger man
maybe it was used in a differant desert also ?
no more clues ive given to many.
good luck. Cpt Herb

I am no hard rocker, but I would say ramrod for setting charges in the hole

You got that one,
its a hand carved push rod, never ram a dynamite charge as you are pushing against live charge. Fuse, cap and charge. its not rocket science just cracking rock.
Then cap with a little mud, Light fuse get out or behind blast shield.
Then if you are lucky you got a mucker to clean it up !!!
Cpt Herb.

How about used to signal We're in here... HELP!. Pushed through rocks to attract attention. A guess. TTC
