Welcome to the site! Please post an introduction thread.

Hello everyone, I am new to the site but have been a detector hunter for years. I live in Halifax County, NC but am at the beach this weekend. Me and my daughter are going to do a little swinging this afternoon. The wind is terrible right now but the sun is out. I also like to search for artifacts and fossils. I have a small collection of vertebrae and rib bones from mega whales I think

Hello, Thinking about a detector. Our property once belonged to Southern Pacific and now is mostly 8 acres of pasture. Our house was built in 1940's. Not sure what was here before that. It was an old hermit type that lived here first then a cattle guy, then us. I wonder where the old family dump sight is? I recently started coin roll hunting. First just teller drawers and I think already searched random rolls. I found some FIDOS but On 2/13/15 I bought my first 500 box of halves. I found the pictured Franklin with about $60 left to go. It was exciting.

Hello everyone! Got to this site via a forum on a GPAA site. I love panning for gold, and metal detecting. I have a few old coins I would love to get some feedback on. I don't know what denomination they are, and not really sure where they're from. I will post pictures as soon as I can get them cleaned up enough to photograph. Not sure quite how to do that yet, but I would imagine some of you have given that advice a million times, so I will search the forum posts before I bug you.
I'm new at treasure hunting, so right now I'm just trying to take it all in, and learn what I can.

Thank you so much! I will for sure check out Tom_In_CA, and if I wind up working with a company that is looking for Treasure Hunters, I will 100% get in touch! Ya never know what the future holds :)

Welcome Joy. Just one of the many reasons I joined was to meet people like you. Real treasure hunters not only show off their finds but like to help others that are new to the hobby. That can be done in many ways. I encourage you to check out Tom_ In _Ca on the Treasure Legends forum here under the California section. I put him in there some time ago but try not to mention it unless that special person comes along that I think might check him out. He has been hunting many years and has helped many. If that "lure of production is too strong" as you put it please include me as I always wanted to be on television. Gotta include my puppy though as we kinda go places together.

Good morning all!
I am happy to be able to participate on a site with so many subject matter students and professors alike. I have been progressively learning and becoming a treasure hunter in many forms now, but my preferred style is metal detecting.
for the past couple of years, I've been using two bounty hunters, one from a thrift shop, and one from a friend's closet. I have been quite successful in my finds, amazing finds in over hunted fairgrounds to middle of woods how that get there. Unfortunately, one machine is dead, and the other is not able to take me to the next level, so I am saving up for my new machine.
Any way, I'm looking forward to posting some of my finds to learn what they are, as well as to continue reading and viewing all the interesting posts already on this site.
Thank you!

I am new to metal detecting, using an Radio Shack 1000. I have had this detector for many years and never understood the correct way to use it( disc, tone). I have learned a lot from reading post on here. Glad to see everyone is so helpful for beginners in the hobby. Any one around the NRV of Va. I would like to hear some good finds and maybe some spots to try!

Hey gang, I am 31 year old's and I hunt artifacts of all ERA'S. I'm second generation at this and well, to tell you the truth..I could really use opinions on..names, types, meaning, and use of several diff. Species. My friends call me bitty, as soon as I figure this sight out, I will upupload a couple picks. Arkansas collection, in two years..I am very comfortable "guessing" around..if not more, than 2,000 pieces.
