Welcome to the site! Please post an introduction thread.

Hello my name is Clint. I'm from England in the UK. I am a massive fan of treasure hunting - metal detecting and try to get out around my local fields a few times a week at least. I use a Minelab explorer pro. I'm Between probes at the minute as the wizard has broken, And my favourite accessory at the minute is my newly acquired deer stalker hat with big fury ears ! because it's getting rather fresh now out on the Cheshire plains :-) I'm really enjoying the site so far an just getting used to joining in on threads and posting a few pictures etc, it's nice to be able to share my finds now with like minded folk all around the world. Anyway, Happy Hunting ! I hope I can bring you some interesting finds myself in the near future.

Welcome aboard from the great state of Pennsylvania (USA).

You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting your state for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

Hi All - I've just discovered this fabulous site while surfing for answers on some "stuff" I have &/or have found.
I'm from NY - north of NYC. This looks like an exciting place to visit when ever I have the time - so now I'm looking forward to making the time whenever possible. I'm a newbie, not only to this site, but (believe it or not) to using the computer for anything other than research, email, etc. The simplest of things mostly (I don't even have a smart phone - which puts me in with the dinosaurs!) Hopefully I'll learn more as I come here and explore & post (if I can figure out how to do more than this, that is). So please bear with me if I make mistakes, which I often do - it'll all continue to be part of the journey.

Hi! I live along the Indiana shore of Lake Michigan. Metal detectors aren't allowed on Indiana's shoreline (it's National Lakeshore territory, and most if not all national parks are off-limits to detecting), but I rockhound and hunt artifacts there (not officially allowed, either, but the rangers don't usually hassle the 'hounds). I also do a fair amount of gold prospecting throughout the state -- you won't get rich doing that, but you'll find a fair amount of fine glacial gold that's of higher quality, at 22-23 carats, than Alaskan and Californian gold. I do a little metal detecting in local parks and along old wagon routes.

My best find so far was a 4000 year-old spear point that washed up on the beach. Second-best is an antique white gold man's ring with an onyx stone and a hole where a diamond or monogram once was. The ring was probably last manufactured in the 1920s, and given its condition that limits it to one of four relatively nearby wrecks (it's not a ring you'd wear to the beach for swimming).

Love the site and look forward to participating.

Hello, my name is David and I live in Louisville, Kentucky. I have wanted to metal detect for about 30 years now and after a little research I bought my first (starter) detector and am now learning how. I love the feeling of a kid at Christmas opening a present every time I dig a signal. Only been out a few times but have already started finding some cool stuff.

Welcome to new hunters. Love to see your finds. Please post your artifacts in the arrowhead section. Love to see the spear point.
Happy hunting everyone

We all started and post one and have made some great mistakes. Just try and ask questions along the way. Great bunch of people here.

Hi, I'm totally new to this and I'm trying to decide which MD is right for me. The AT Pro or the Fisher F5? any suggestions? Rings, coins, and relics is my goal. Also, what's the best way to approach a landowner to request permission to hunt his land? I would of course promise to leave his property in the same condition I found it and to clean up any litter I may run across. Any ideas? I'm looking forward to my new hobby and any insights I can gain from this site. I live in LaGrange KY, right outside Louisville. Once I get set up I'd like to find some others close by to go hunting with. Beginners, we can learn together and experienced users, I would love to learn from you! Thanks!

Hello fellow detectorists. I'm from Sarnia, ON. I do some metal detecting and prospecting, but not as much as I'd like. I've done some prospecting in BC and Yukon using a Minelab GP 5000 and the previous pulse induction models over the years. My brother is a dealer in Alberta so I have someone getting me more interested from time to time. We have been discussing the pros and cons of Deeptech detectors for some time and he decided to become a Canadian distributor for them. I guess I'll probably have to have one and do more detecting.

Hi guys, I'm a newby from Burbank, CA. I am a Genealogist amoung other things and most of my life I just found things without really searching. I love seeing all the treasures others have found.

Good afternoon everyone, I 'googled' details on the back of a button I found this morning and up popped an old post on your site
which gave me the information I needed. After reading through the forums I thought I was out of place as I am
over in England but I see a few intros ago that someone called Clint is also from here. I use a Garrett Euro Ace/Ace250 plus propointer. I tend to be a 'fair weather' detectorist and so don't get out as much as I could with our weather! Am enjoying reading
about all the finds and think it seems a very friendly and informative site.

Regards, rockape

Good afternoon to all. I have visited this site in the past, reading posts, and browsing the finds. Happy to be a member of this community, and welcome any comments or questions. I have been prospecting off and on for a little over 27 years, throughout the lower 48. For those interested in prospecting for precious metals, the best book I could suggest is De Re Metallica by Agricola, it is a wealth of knowledge and methods. I do metal detect from time to time, and living in Tennessee certainly has it's privileges, and obstacles. I am a Licensed Practical Nurse by trade, because prospecting for a living is a rarity, and not likely if one is married.

Good luck on all your finds and prospects,
Zach

Hi, i've learned a lot from this site since i became interested in metal detecting and hope i'll contribute my fair share once i settle in. Let's all enrich this site and benefit everyone.

Hello. I'm currently living in NC. I use to be a member on here a few years back under the name jericho or jerichin but life changing events took place and I'm finally getting back into detecting. don't know if my old posts are still here or not but any case...its good to be back. at the time I was living in NY near Syracuse. Lots of great spots to hunt. I'm still looking for spots here in NC. I'm actually in Woodleaf which is about 45min. from Charollette. Currently using a cheap fast tracker detector and a whites 120mm bullseye ll pinpointer. They get the job done for now. Anyhow...its good to be back. Hey....if anyone can remember the gentleman from berhardsbay, ny who still may belong to this fantastic site...I would love to catch up with him. we use to detect together for a bit....even behind the old bank. just can't remember his name. lol. anyway......happy hunting

Welcome aboard. Happy to have you :-)

Hello everyone from maverick77, I hope to meet new friends and gain some new information and places to metal detect and prospect for gold on private land on this site.

Anyone in the junction city Manhattan Kansas area?

Hi everyone, my name's Bill, I live in the center of California in the San Joaquin valley. Have been wanting to get a metal detector for years and just never did it. So today I ordered my first one. Teknetics gamma 6000. Of course I know nothing about metal detectors so I'm not sure what I've spent $499.00 on. LOL I look forward to reading all the posts to find out what other accessories I need and to see what you all have found. Thanks for allowing me into your world. This really seems to be an addicting hobby. I look forward to it! Thanks again, Bill.
