I found an absurd answer, like this story, for how Wagoner survived in the cold nights. He had a thermal ointment brought from an old Viking wizard. He would oil himself with that ointment and fall asleep naked.

One thing I miss from Pennsylvania, is large trees. There are none here. It doesn't rain enough for a tree to get large. Only at springs are there large trees and there aren't enough to sustain centuries of outdoor fires from natives, ranchers and miners....and hikers.
The GoPro Hero 13 is 5K, not 4 so........ and I'm not going to black out, hide and lord any knowledge over my fellow THunters (keep in mind, the word "hunt" implies leaving your living room.) I don't want us going in circles.
