Very Unusual-NewPics! UPDATE! It's OPEN!!!!!

I found this out in the barn while I was moving some old boards . The bottom and top are glass .

There is some stuff inside it - a scrap of material on one side , and a ring shaped thing on the other side .
It is corroded shut . I swabbed some wd40 on it to help loosen it .
maybe tomorrow I can twist it off ?

Maybe burial vault from some kids pet, tiger? I once dug up a glass jelly jar with birdseed, a small avian skeleton, a piece of paper towel, and when I opened it, it smelled like horse linament, some kid buried his parakeet, and the linament must have been to keep the bugs away, anyway it had a metal lid, and I re-buried it.....NGE

I dont belive that was meant to be opened and since you can see it all anyway Id probaly leave it like it is.

I think its a specimen container. They held all types of materials for comparisons or scientific research. Could well be claws.

I like the Voodoo thing...kinda fits the mystery with hair, claws, cloth....

You post the most interesting whatzits. And I never have a danged clue what any of them are. Suspender clips I can do. Weird tools that have odd uses, crazy wooden things, and claws in a circle are outside my abilities LOL.

But I enjoy seeing them, and following along for the ride. 8)

It looks like the remnants of a pin cushion to me. The teeth would be for twisting the top a ways, to reveal a compartment that holds pins threads and such. The teeth stop it from coming apart, you just twist it a bit.

When I looked at the first new picture, I said, "creepy"....that was before I even saw the rest of them, then it got creepier

I think who ever said it may be soldered closed is right. Maybe it wasn't meant to come open again after it was closed, since you can see inside anyway.

Interesting, but it'd have to go bye bye if it were near me...lol (and I even used to own an old tribal art figure form a head hunting tribe)

Here's my 1 cents worth (my input on this one's not worth two)

The 'claws' look like bird talons to me. In the last shot, you can see one complete one. It shows none of the signs of wear I would associated with a 'grounded' animal like a dog or whatever. Claws from a large cat might be another possibility since they can retract 'em.

Given the green color of the corrosion, I am assuming the body of the container is made of a softer material like copper, brass, etc. And from that, I would infer that the edges were 'rolled' over the glass after the objects were placed inside. i.e. - it probably wasn't meant to be opened.

No clue on the "fabric" looking material inside. Doesn't look like woven hair to me at all, but still, no clue

It's open !
Some sort of claw monacle ? Not sure what animal ?
The piece of material has 3 brass colored beads wrapped in it . The beads are hollow .

Strange stuff. You might try a university to see what them claws are.
