Keep at it and get everyone to agree on what they see and I'll search the design, o.k.?

Doc
I really thought I did...Why Planets? They would look the same size as the moon and sun...wouldnt they? jeeze....

You're on the right track we just need a consensus to figure out what string we're going to search.

Doc
Ive looked all places...grannys attic, victorian, celtic ,roman,edwardian,georgian,irish,islamic....punk rocket, antique alley, you name it I been there...Well time to buy a box or two of those cracker jacks....s&n stamps....montgomery wards catalogue...doc I checked as far back as the 1700's and as early as 1975 and nothing....this ring is as rare as watermelon pie...I just wonder if it is just a modern date ring that has been exposed to years of being in dirt that it looks old...does bronze turn that way...could it be another metal....the braided looking edge says roman as does the stars....I am tired...I will get on it again tomorrow after i paint my tractor....1952 ford 8n restored....my significant other an I have worked on it for awhile now...goodnight...

i vote for modern corroded pot metal ring...
the celestial markings themselves and the fact that the sun and moons appear to have had smiling faces makes me suspicious...

I'm begining to think this might just be pot metal that was plated, in which case, a dime store trinket and not worth furthre research. WHat do you think?

Doc
I thought the same. Try scratchng a spot, and lookng for brass, or use nitrc acid.

wow that cleaning really helped! I wouldnt give up on it just yet, doesnt look too modern unless you have really bad ground conditions there. Didnt omnicognic have a search bot on this site that could take a picture of something and find similar pics on the internet? What ever happened to omni, is he still around?
