This was found in a Civil War Union camp near Kennesaw Battlefield, Georgia. I have seen a great many dug rings thru the years but never one like this. Appears to be made of bronze and has three suns interspaced with quatermoons and dots. Does this look faimaliar to anyone?

Treasurenet is not a battle of wits. I will not be dragged into such.

What is a forum?

Doc

An Internet forum is a facility on the World Wide Web for holding discussions, or the web application software used to provide the facility. Web-based forums, which date from around 1995, perform a similar function as the dial-up bulletin boards and Internet newsgroups that were numerous in the 1980s and 1990s. A sense of virtual community often develops around forums that have regular users. Technology, computer games, and politics are popular areas for forum themes, but there are forums for a huge number of different topics.

No where in that description did I see where a forum must contain snide remarks, insults or battle of wits. Lay off of BCH Doc, he is a well respected member of this forum. Thank you in advance for doing so.

Wow, I didn't expect anyone to stick up for little old me. Thanks. I think Doc and I are starting to respect each other. I will try harder myself.

It looks like two sunflowers with a tulip in the center to me.
I also thought Tulip. I think Snowdragon is right.

No problem. You might check BCH posts regarding the same objections.

Doc

Doc, its not a problem with me either, I just want to see the love that was here before. Both of you are great assests to the forum, and both have very helpful insights. I just wanted to put in my two cents and stop anything before it esculated.

Back to the ring. I don't know what it means, but I thnk it is SUNFLOWERS and TULIPS.

I think your right... I originally thought it was suns and moons, but after the second batch of pictures, it really looks like flowers.

2 cents OK maybe its not "a ring" maybe just a ring persay like off the top or bottom few inch's of a cane or a round inlay of sorts ........

I think you are closer to the answer than anyone else. I tend to think so myself.
With all the talk of design, what about diameter? ??? Measurements?

I would think if it's a ring for a cane, it would be the same thickness all the way around. If it's a ring for the finger then it would be a little thinner on the side opposite from the design from wear. Just an observation, all of my rings tend to become thinner on the palm side over the years.

Where are you? Will you just go ahead and solve this one?!!!! ;)
I have no time to try. I am busy, sold house, need to move a lifetime collection of good junk by Monday morning closing. Putting in storage. I may set up computer at new temp. address. :-\ It is too hot to head for the swamp at this time. ;D ;D
