Was having a dud of an outing today. That was until I had a screaming half dollar signal on the Manticore. Solid tight 95 in all directions at 4 bars deep. Right off a hiking path in a popular set of woods that I've never been to with my buddy. I called him over after I had the signal and was calling my target as a half dollar. He agreed with me after swinging his nox over it.

I was SO eager to dig it but he wanted to record the live dig on his phone. We got the whole thing on video! I'll post it to my YouTube channel shortly. I can't edit it and there are a few profanities in it and we apologize. But it was a freaking amazing half dollar with a pop out face and we were both in the moment.

Here are a few of the pics of my new favorite coin find. Been slowly getting used to the Manticore after I did a factory reset. I messed with some settings when I first got it and was kinda disappointed at how it was acting. But now I have some renewed faith in the machine!

Enjoy! Thanks for lookin and happy hunting to all. Fall is here and the woods are back in session!

In over 30 years of detecting, I had FINALLY found my first and only gold coin. HAVING said that, your "pop out" 1/2 dollar is as good if not better. It being a 1909 Silver Half, "The real thing", I think it is a beautiful work of art to any of us who are and have been avid detectorist for years. Somebody at some time had the talent to make it, had the sad misfortune to lose it, and then how many years later?, to have you come along with the great good luck to have found it. A one of a kind event my friend, and to have it on film? Priceless.... Hard to top that one.

Wow thank you sprailroad. A gold coin is nothing to bat an eye at. Still hoping to find one someday. There's no denying this coins quality and beauty. I bet someone many many years ago had a bad day when they lost it. I have my friend to thank for slowing me down before I dug my plug. Having it on film is definitely the icing on the cake.

I would really like to try it, I think I woudl enjoy it!
It's a very rewarding hobby in my opinion, even if you get skunked here and there. Plus it literally pays you back. Maybe not enough to cover your gear and time but definitely in fresh air and exercise, and potential friends you meet along the way.

I got a gorgeous pop-out back in the 90s. It was in a church yard and about the only thing I got there. I think it had been passed over because the steel pin caused it to have a funky signal. It is an Indian Head Penny made into a hatpin and silver plated.

I have same coin better condition with pin part attached and little plaque ECT. Urs looks legit to me maybe since mine is completely too fresh means it's a counterfeit haha if y'all care to see it lemme know I can digg it out for a photo I guess.

That's very cool. I love the different designs these pop outs had. Good thing you dug it. I bet also being silver plated had played a roll in the iffy signal.

Yours may be legit at well, mine was just in the ground for 100 odd years. Let's see some pics if you have the time.
