Was having a dud of an outing today. That was until I had a screaming half dollar signal on the Manticore. Solid tight 95 in all directions at 4 bars deep. Right off a hiking path in a popular set of woods that I've never been to with my buddy. I called him over after I had the signal and was calling my target as a half dollar. He agreed with me after swinging his nox over it.

I was SO eager to dig it but he wanted to record the live dig on his phone. We got the whole thing on video! I'll post it to my YouTube channel shortly. I can't edit it and there are a few profanities in it and we apologize. But it was a freaking amazing half dollar with a pop out face and we were both in the moment.

Here are a few of the pics of my new favorite coin find. Been slowly getting used to the Manticore after I did a factory reset. I messed with some settings when I first got it and was kinda disappointed at how it was acting. But now I have some renewed faith in the machine!

Enjoy! Thanks for lookin and happy hunting to all. Fall is here and the woods are back in session!

Congratulations on probably the coolest modified coin find I have ever seen! That thing is incredible and in impeccable condition! I've never seen anything quite like it. I vote banner!

Fantastic find! Beauty of a coin! Congratulations and thanks for posting.
Appreciate it ArfieBoy! No way I could keep this find hidden from the world. It's way too cool.

I don’t know if this coin is technically rare or valuable , but I suspect it is seldom dug and it is definitely super cool. It is so special and would look wonderful up on the BANNER. Congrats on such a great find.

Beautiful piece!

How do they do that and keep it looking so pristine?!?
They don't push out the original face on the coin, it's done with a new set of "dies" on a new original coin, the original face is completely erased by the pressure of the pressing with the "Repousse" dies, if you ever see another half dollar done like this it most likely will look a little bit different...unless it was done by the same company using the same die.

Thanks lenmac! I was hoping it was going to be a half or a copper culture relic (both are high tones) Absolutely stunned at what came out of it's hiding spot to say the least. Definitely a very special find indeed.
That is so, so cool! I don't ever remember seeing anything quite like it. Big congrats!!!
Thanks silvermonkey! I have seen them before but never considered one coming out of the ground.
