Hi I'm new to this site and have no idea what to do or how to do it....lol..I'm hoping to find some help identifying this. I found it recently in East Texas on a friend's property..to me it looks like a Clovis, but I've also been told it looks like a Dalton...I would love for someone with more knowledge about them to help identify it please!

Painted artifically, so I think Tourist piece

Definitely a fake 🤪, we just need the exact coordinates to confirm authenticity.

That’s an awesome point where about in east Texas are you? I’ve found some points in Newton and Sabine counties

Lol funny.

Was it real or was it a replica

I would assume real, it was found in a creek back in the 30s before the lake was there if I remember the story right. I was researching manning fused glass and came across it online. Also saw a regular Clovis from kerbyville, it’s on display at the museum at the picket house in Woodville. They have a big artifact collection.

U don't happen to have a pic of the one found in Kirbyville would u

Thank you! That’s a great find.
I wasn’t trying to be a jerk.

I really wanted to look at the basal thinning on both sides so I could learn a little bit. Definitely no arrow head for sure!!

Looks like they worked thinning it across the entire base, then one larger flake down the axis on both sides.

I wonder how long this piece has been hanging on? Must have been recent frost damage? I wouldn’t think it would cling on for 10,000 years. I’d be careful with that one!

I wished I would have, I didn’t get a chance to take a pic of it, they were closing soon and I was trying to rush through all the artifacts. The tag said it was found at the site of the old Kerbyville theater. It’s a really neat place if you haven’t been, the food is great too. They have an original dugout cypress canoe that was found in one of the rivers around there as well.
