Sounds like you have found at least one mine. Have you had a chance to do any metal detecting around it or in it for relics? Any relic can help to date the mine plus, add some coins to your poke. If you're not interested in selling any relics, maybe a museum would like to display them.

BOY OH BOY, HAVE I EVER MD'D THAT AREA. I SWUNG AN OLD-SCHOOL FISHER ABOUT 200 HR., GIVE OR TAKE A FEW. MY PARTNER RAN HIS BIG DOUBLE BOX FOR CLOSE TO 50 HRS. AND WE TOOK ON A THIRD PARTNER THAT HAD JUST BOUGHT A GEMS UNIT. I DON'T KNOW IF I WAS THE SMART ONE FOR FIGUREING OUT HOW TO WORK IT, OR IF I WAS THE BIG DUMMY THAT GOT ROPED INTO CARRYING THAT ELEPHANT AROUND FOR MOST OF THE HOTTEST MONTHS OF THE YEAR. I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE HOW MANY GRIDS WE LAID OUT AND WORKED. I HAVE THEM LANDMARKED IN MY TOPO MAP, AND I CAN STILL REMEMBER THE ONE THAT WAS THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMEL'S BACK.... BETWEEN, ER.. AMONGST THREE TREES WITH LOW LIMBS AND NOTHING BUT MELON SIZED STONES TO WALK ON.

I TOLD THE OTHER TWO IF THEY WANTED ANY MORE PROOF THAT WE WERE IN THE WRONG AREA (ACCORDING TO MY RESEARCH) THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO IT THEMSELVES.
THEY DIDN'T EVEN GET IT PUT TOGETHER. I WAS AND STILL AM A PUREST ABOUT THE MINE.
IT WAS MY GOAL TO STUDY IT. THEY WANTED TO CHASE CACHES. NOTHING WRONG WITH PICKING UP A LITTLE CHANGE, BUT I WANTED TO BE WORKING IN ONE PLACE AND THEY WANTED TO BE IN ANOTHER. WHEN IT WAS TIME TO VOTE ON WHERE WE WOULD WORK ON ANY GIVEN SATURDAY, IT WAS A LITTLE BIT LIKE TWO WOLVES AND ONE LAMB, VOTING ON WHAT TO HAVE FOR LUNCH. AT LEAST IT WAS UNTILL THE LAMB LET OUT HIS ROAR.
WE GOT BACK ON TRACK SHORTLY THERE AFTER.

ALL OF THAT WONDERFUL TECHNOLOGY AT OUR FINGERTIPS AND THE ONLY RELIC FOUND, WAS THE ONE THAT I FOUND ON THE FIRST DAY.... A CHIP OFF OF THE RIM OF A LARGE KETTLE. I'M SURE THAT THERE ARE RELICS THERE, BUT THE THINGS THAT I HAVE LEARNED SINCE I GOT ON TREASURENET HAVE GOT ME THINKING THAT MAYBE WE SHOULD HAVE GONE BACK TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN AND WORKED IT OVER. I DON'T WANT TO GET MY CART BEFORE MY HORSE HERE, I HAVE MORE TO STUDY BEFORE I TRY TO REWRITE MY WHOLE BOOK. SO ....NUFF SAID FOR NOW.

Because a treasure hunter did this. The tree can't be replaced. It is was living history.

HEY, POOR FARM,
I SPENT A LITTLE TIME ON THAT SITE, FOUND A COUPLE OF LEADS, BUT THEY DIDN'T PAN OUT.
THERE IS A LOT OF STUFF ON IT. KINDA HARD TO SORT OUT WHAT YOU NEED WITHOUT KNOWING THE OTHER LANGUAGE.

I COULDN'T SLEEP LAST NIGHT, SO I READ THRU A SMALL BOOK ON CHEROKEE WRITING, THE OLD LANGUAGE. FAIRLY SIMPLE TO READ, BUT AGAIN, WITHOUT KNOWING MORE THAN I DO OF THE LANGUAGE, I DIDN'T LEARN MUCH. I DID MANAGE TO RULE IT OUT OF THE CARVED SIGNS.
I DID GET A LEAD SOME TIME AGO THAT I NEED TO RESEARCH A BIT MORE, I DON'T KNOW OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD WHO GAVE IT TO ME, BUT IT HAS A LINK TO "ROLLA SCHOOL OF MINING" AKA ROLLA UNIVERSITY. I WILL TRY TO CONTACT THEM SOME TIME THIS WEEK.
HOPEFULLY THEY CAN HELP ME.

Wonderful post Mike, I have gone back to my the site that has the circles and it seems that you work them as you do a drill hole, yours is 18 inches across which is 18 divide by 4 = 4 1/2 X length of the stem , check backwards, there should be another carving that direction that way also as well as the direction of the angle stem. Mike if I may use drill holes as an example, a 4 inch across drill hole = 10 CM and its 4 inches deep that's 10 CM also, then the circumference around will be 34.5 X 2 = 69 or a cordell = 189 feet. If I had the length of the stems it would be helpful and a fabric tape measure is a must. Hope this will be helpful. Thanks Rangler, Thom, DM, Lost Horse and a lot of other folks that keeps me thinking and busy. Those are Crafty critters, they all get A-Plus

Mikel! Got a question for you. First thanks for bringing up the Sigma sign, in my research the Sigma is said to mean " the sum of all " ! Do you think it this could also mean " the sum of all SIGNS " ? Could this be as close as we will get to a dig here sign? Where the Treasure could be stashed within inches or centimeters of where this sign is found?? Thank again Amigo and Welcome! td

Might not be a 'W', 'M' or 'Σ'. It might be topographical in nature. It might mean 'two hills', or 'creek' or something else. Try all possibilities. These are good clues you've found. Got a better picture of the 'Z'?

FIRST PIC...I TRIED TO MAKE THE Z AND THE SIGMA AND THE BROKEN CUP S/S POP OUT BY DRAWING THEM IN A THIN RED LINE. I CAN JUST BARELY SEE IT AND I KNOW WHERE THEY ARE. IF YOU LOOK AT THE RIGHT HALF... IN THE CENTER YOU WILL SEE THE SIGMA, THEN JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE TOP HALF OF THE SIGMA YOU WILL SEE THE BROKEN CUP... THEN GO STRAIGHT DOWN JUST BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE BOTTOM OF THE SIGMA AND YOU WILL FIND THE "Z".

SECOND PIC... THIS IS ME, STANDING IN FRONT OF THE TOTALLY SEALED AND COMPLETELY CONCEALED MINE OPENING. JUST AS IT HAS BEEN FOR A FEW CENTURIES. MORE LATER.

THIRD PIC... THIS IS JUST ONE OF, AND THE SMALLEST OF THE MANY CROSSES PLACED ON AND AROUND THE MOUNTAIN AND THE VALLEY BELOW. I BRING THIS UP BECAUSE YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN WORKING SO HARD WITH ME TO DEVELOP A NEW THEORY CONCERNING THE BLUFF SIGNS.

HOWEVER; THE BROKEN CUP + "THE SUM OF ALL" "SIGNS". = THE CHURCH HAS BEEN FULLY PAID OR THE MINE WAS TAKEN FROM WHOME EVER WAS MINING HERE IN THE NAME OF THEIR CHURCH.( FRENCH TOOK FROM SPAIN OR SPAIN TOOK IT FROM FRENCH.)

THIS ONLY WORKS IF; FIRST, I GET CONFERMATION ON THE THEORY ABOUT THE BROKEN CUP SIGN. I SAY THEORY BECAUSE I GOT THIS INFO FROM AN UNRELIABLE CONTACT.(NOT ON TREASURENET)

SECOND, IF TESORO DOG WILL SHARE THE HOME OF HIS LEAD, SO THAT, IN THE EVENT THAT THIS NEW THEORY FALLS APART, IT WILL NOT BE ON HIS HEAD.
THE DEFINITION "SUM OF ALL, OR THE SUM OF ALL SIGNS" HAS BEEN THE SINGLE BEST ANSWER TO THIS BLUFF.

NOW, IF ANY ONE CARES TO CHIME IN ON THE BROKEN CUP, I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU. THIS IS THE SIGN THAT LOOKS LIKE IT COULD BE A 3 OR 5. JUST REMEMBER, THAT I AM LOOKING FOR A RELIABLE, STUDIED, AND RECOGNIZED DOCUMENT.
IF THIS COMES TOGETHER, THAT WOULD CONDITIONALY STATE THAT THE MINE WAS MOST LIKELY IN THE HANDS OF THE FRENCH FIRST, THAT WOULD EXPLAIN THE Z AS BEING ZINC, SINCE THE SPANISH WOULD HAVE USED C FOR CINC.
THAT LEAVES A SMALL RING AROUND THE BATH TUB, AS THE Z REFERS TO ALCHEMY AND THE REST REFER TO THE MINE'S STATUS.

NOW ABOUT THE PIC OF ME AT THE MINE SHAFT. YOU GUYS DESERVE TO SEE THIS, EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT WANT TO PUBLISH IT YET. LOOK CAREFULLY BUT NOT TOO CLOSELY AND YOU WILL FIND NATURAL AND UNNATURAL MIXED IN THE BACKGROUND. THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN IN NATURE.

AND A FOOT NOTE ABOUT THE SMALL CROSS ON THE SAND STONE CUBE. I DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY FOUND SAND STONE IN THIS AREA. WE DID NOT FIND ANY, EXCEPT THIS ONE CUBE BURRIED IN A RETAINER WALL, IN A PLACE THAT HAS NO JUSTIFICATION EXCEPT THAT IT IS ON THE WORK LINE ESTABLISHED BY THE KEYSTONE.

BY THE WAY, I WAS STANDING ON THE WORK LINE, IN THE PIC OF THE MINE SHAFT, AND I COULD SHOOT AN ARROW AND HIT THE BLUFF FROM THERE.

Well Mikel, I first stumbled on the word Sigma, while reading an adventure book by an author by the name of James Rollins and the books title is Map of Bones. In it there is an Organization known as SIGMA, these bad-asses roam the world fighting any enemy that threatens to destroy our way of life! We could sure use them now, with all the NWO crap! HA! Anyway, Sigma is described as meaning " the sum of all ", plus the Team many times has to break symbols/signs/codes in order to compete or stay ahead of the bad guys or at least in this book they do.
This info led me to Google Sigma. In Math, Sigma means "Summation of" and "Sum of the values". Sacred Geometry?

Rereading your posts after you mentioned a broken cup, I remembered something I had seen while looking up Sigma, about a Greek Cup found by the man who discovered the Mythological city of Troy, it had the Sigma Sign painted on it. It is called the Nestor's Cup or The Cup of Nestor from the Iliad. I am not surprised, Treasure Hunting has much Synchronicity or Ancient History involved.

The middle photo in your recent post shows you standing directly in front of the alleged mine entrance, which appears accessible. Refresh my memory here - why is it that you have not reopened the mine entrance? Doesn't the location of a concealed mine trump the possible meanings of the carvings in the vicinity? If your goal is to write a book about the history of the site, wouldn't the top priority be to confirm the site?
