Sad to see so much time wasted having to defend himself from the media...sometimes seems like a daily event...left or right the media should respect some kind of journalism ethics.

I will post a confession thread separately for those who bought a detector with the money :laughing7:

I Sure would Like to Buy one. But my car could cost $1500 to repair. Maybe more now :dontknow:

Isnt that ultimately what all control comes down to? Economic control? or am I wrong

Chub

Chub,
There are many ways that we have been giving up control.
Insurance shifts financial burden of a mishap, but you may have limits or insurance will dictate.
This extends into the medical care, auto accident repairs, home warranty, etc.
The big areas are education, and financial like you say. Barrowing to buy a home is huge control with tentacles reaching out all over.
Permits to do stuff or to build stuff, is about control disguised as protection.
Building codes for homes is only for the banks. Only needed if you want insurance, or to barrow to buy.
Or if selling, without permts and inspections at least during construction, banks won't loan on it for any buyer. Control

Then you have all the laws. Town laws, County laws, State laws, Red tape for almost everything, licenses, boating, fishing, exploring public lands. If you want to have a business, whoa . . Plenty of hoops to hop through. Even if you don't barrow.
heck, even camping can be controlled.

We have really given up a lot of freedom. For our own protection is what we think.

They say one positive side effect of the stay at home order is reduction of pollution...and what was the #1 threat to our country according to people in charge? Climate Change..hmm. Just saying there could be many factors at play here.

I'm feeling a little more normal today, other than being
herded through a cattle corral, to get into walmart & mask wearing....
Found toilet paper, paper towels and sanitizer, YAY.
I haven't seen them things in stores since March 21st.
Even Lowes said they had sanitizer. Had to buy me some tarps and dirt.
(can't believe I buy dirt, either, cain't get to the cane fields, atm...)

I'm not feeling to nice, about this con't beach lockdown, for the tri-county area.
Don't want to hear NOTHING, about cruise industry, airlines, tourists, especially foreign tourists,
until ALL American tax paying citizens rights, to ALL public areas, are returned to the PEOPLE!
Our elcted officials, keep trying to talk, "tourists"... They need to see, if they're
able to get a grip on their LOCAL populations first & foremost,
before they start whoring after tourists dollars, again!
That's one thing, GOT us in this mess, to begin with!
(not trying to be political, simply stating what I'm seeing/hearing here)

It’s odd from my perspective to see Florida opening yet California is dragging their feet...just another week..maybe one more.

So my county is proposing to mandate that people over the age of 65 and people with underlying health conditions
shelter at home until this completely blows over and a treatment is developed.

This is coming from an area with 11 cases now in 33,000 square miles!!

I’ll be providing public comment at a board meeting for the first time in my life. They just don’t get it.

I only post about the insanity of what we are experiencing in rural west coast to hopefully prompt people in the same situation to take action and participate in local government. It is the ONLY way to actually have a voice.

Problem could be the close proximity to the populated areas with lots of cases.
I think people are going to be cautious as long as the media and gov. keep pushing their agenda.

Thing about it here, no allowance have been made for special business practices...beauty salons - closed. Could they social distance and have women put their hands under a plexiglass barrier to get their nails done?

How about hotels...could they stagger occupation of hotel rooms so nobody is in a room sooner than a week after the previous occupation?

Could real estate offices open up if they scheduled appointments so that no more than a certain number of clients are in the building at any one time?

There is zero effort to actually come up with a workable plan to open as many businesses as possible as soon as possible here.

Done in by disinfectant, huh.... :laughing7:
It'd go quicker, if ya just drank that tub of it, they dip those clothes in at the door. :dontknow:
I may join you... :laughing7: If I can get through the roadblock... :tongue3:

Yep, them numbers in Dade, as compared to
Monroe, Broward, & Palm Bch, is pretty shocking! :o
I think the #'s for all 3 counties, if added together,
wouldn't be as many cases/deaths, as what Dade has seen.

I think some of my local mayors may have blocked me on fb :laughing7:
Our head mayoral idiot in Ft Laud Bch want to close 1 northbound lane of A1A,
so ppl can walk in the street & the sidewalk, RIGHT NEXT TO..... wait for it....
MILES OF SAND.... MILES AND MILES OF UNOCCUPIED SAND!
what's wrong with this picture? :icon_scratch:

What is the "Wall of Shame" in the Florida Keys?

Car dealerships in our area have layed everyone off, just the owners working mostly. If you see a car you want to buy, you can call or email them, but you buy it with no test drive. They don't wanna have to disinfect vehicles after every test drive. Lets see how that goes--:icon_scratch:

Geez, it isn't the black plague or a zombie invasion, too many people are prone to hysteria, it is simply a bad virus, the Spanish flu killed a lot more, 55 million world wide, 675,000 in America and the world didnt end, we didn't destroy our economy or starve either. World wide for covid19 there has been 3,477,160 total cases and 244,417 deaths, in America 1,157,421 cases and 67,248 deaths, even if those figures triple it is still minor compared to Spanish flu, much less the Black Plague.
