Here's a shot of the other side of the rock, I don't see much though.
This rock sits in a small park, hence the cropped grass.
It sure looks mighty out of place...

I would really be interested in drill holes if there are any, don't really expect them tho,I would follow the one on the left first find a topo from your local Soil conservation office and look for areas of interest such as small hills, eye catchers, sharp bluffs even as far away as 2.5 miles. Is there any history about the rock in the park. It sure fits the Monument category, it should face rough country on the right and flatland on the left as one would be looking at its face

You mentioned that this boulder is in a park. That's going to be a problem. First, find out if the park was formed AROUND the boulder or if the boulder was brought in for "decoration" for the park. In the first instance, you could work with it; in the second, you're probably out of luck for it being usable.
Being in a public park, it has been the recipient of a LOT of graffiti down through the years. In these "massaged" copies, you can see a lot of "ghosting" of those letters that were not deep cleaned from the stone. In one shot of the side, there is a "maybe" letter "A" that I circled. There appears to be 3 drill holes that I've pointed out using 3 large yellow arrows. The top has a BUNCH of maybe,"could be's" on it, but with kids and wannabee kids climbing around on it and beating on it; which ones are legitimate and which aren't??
Anyway, here's some copies of you pix with the light played with; some black and white with negatives.

Thanks for all your input, and all points well taken. (I'll have to figure out how to do that negative picture thing at some juncture...Thanx Shortstack!) The park is small and secluded, many locals don't know it exists, yet it has been there a long time.

I posted the rock because of other signs in the proximity led me in its direction. As it turns out, the face on the left leads to a large open field (or as someone suggested: an easy trail.) The face on the right would indeed lead to a more difficult one.

I have PhotoShop Elements that can do the negative thing. If you have it, here's the steps.
Once you've opened the photo in PhotoShop,
---Click Enhance on the tool bar, then click Convert to Black and White.
You'll get 2 copies of your photo in the field, one of the original, one in B & W.
---Click OK, and the Black and White will now be your working photo.
---Click Filter, on the tool bar; select Adjustments, then click on Invert.

Now you have a negative of your photo. You can have a negative of a color photo
by just skipping the "convert to black and white" step.

Or you can download Gimp (free photo editing software that rivals Photoshop) here: http://www.gimp.org

Just grab the windows installer, and after you have installed it, open the picture in Gimp.

Go to the menu and click: >colors, >Hue and Saturation .... this will open the hue and saturation control. The bottom slider is "Saturation", move it all the way to the left.

Next, go to the menu and click: >Colors, >Invert

Now you have a black and white photo, inverted, and you didn't spend 80 bucks . . . and with the conversion, you probably lost less than you would with photoshop.

I edit photos for my web design business, and wouldn't use anything else. Not because of the price, but because of the results.

To me the overall shape of the rock is suggestive. Then which holes are natural and which are not....i guess i might expect at least more markers to be to the right for sure. Not too far away. Likely rocks on ground.
As to other..do not know .

I just wanted to thank you guys for doing everything that you've been doing on here. Your wisdom is not falling on deaf ears. I will never look at shapes and animals in stone or trees the same. While I may not be able to see all the details that you guys are seeing just yet, I am picking it up very quickly. And to think, without stumbling across this thread, much less this whole forum, I wouldn't have figured out some amazing facts about this great country's history. For that alone I thank you again. here is a type of trap, am I sure was set by the code makers....keep you trapped inside the realm of pareidolia never to escape to find the real signs and symbols. This practice easily draws others off the true treasure trail in engage in what we would call "art pics" and the the resultant art critic comments./

So what you have here is the fact that all matter breaks down to the Atomic level and beyond, but in that breakdown from the molecular level we understand that in this Universe- matter had to obey the Laws of Physics. It is those Laws that set the patterns in all elements whether it is stone wood or clouds. In the creation, and subsequent erosion the basic nature of the common molecules set the wear patterns, that Mother Nature 'unconsciously' made shapes that looks like faces, animals, and other things.

This idea of Pareidolia was well known by the Arcane Practitioners of Alchemy and well studied by the Higher Educators inside the Jesuits attended colleges i.e. University of Salamanca, Spain circa 1500 AD onward.
They code makers knew of this concept and intentionally set out to carve monuments in the shape of animals and human faces. they knew that the human mind is trained to see and recognize a face more readily that any other shape, having been imprinted with this shape since birth.

This is real good information that anyone following these type trails should pay attention to. I know from personal experience how hard it is to not be led astray. I agree confirmation is the key.
