Treasure Expo 2007

Re: Trouble in Paradise?????????????

Peg Leg,
I must apologize for not yet sending the donation that I promised you. Please understand that Rusty is not well and gets treatments every week at the hospital. He took ill just after I said I'd send the donation. We both very much want to attend the expo. But, at this point it depends upon his health. We are still sending a small donation of 30 dollars.

Re: Trouble in Paradise?????????????

Rustys Mate,
Do not be concerned and no need to apologize for a thing.
Things happen that we cannot forsee.
Rusty needs your help way more than I do or the event does.
I do wish the very best to you and Rusty and pray that he will get better soon.
Don

I talked with Don at length today about the Expo. I am signing on as a sponsor of the event and to help take some of the workload off Don.

I have asked Marc to create a top-level "Treasure Expo 2007" forum so that we can get all the information in one place with better exposure, and to help plan the event.

I will soon have a survey/questionnaire on-line to get feedback on the scope & direction of the Expo.

Regards,
Carl

Bravo, Carl. Bravo indeed.

Don is a hero to many of us for his perseverence. Many of us have helped as best as we could. I applaud your angle on taking it to the next level.

There are some new thing going on that I think sould be brought up.
I was just donated 2 coins from the 1600 and will come with CERTS.
Both will be RAFFLED at $1.00 a ticket.
The person doing the donating will remain UNKNOWN at this time. NO the coins are not silver but are Copper with all the marking easy to read including the date.
There may also be a Metal Detector Raffled off as well..
I think that CARL should be given a BIG HAND.
THANKS CARL.

I just want to say that I am planning to attend. I am looking forward to a good time and new friends. I will have a display table on the Arc-Geo Loggers.

PegLeg it would be nice if you placed a form to fill out for a table so I can get setup. Also any information, directions, hotels ect.

Regards,

Tim Williams

As soon as I get an official forum set up, we will put everything there.

Tim,
It is pleasing to know you are coming down. I believe that a good number of people will be interested in your attachment to MD that allow a deeper seqrch.

There is a SPECIAL THANK YOU should go to SEAHUNTER for his donation without it I would have never go started.
THANKS SCOTT.

I just talked to an old buddy Rob Westrick a marine archaeologist who has done a lot of work on the 1715 fleet and Blackbeard shipwreck. We dove together off the Virgilona with Mo Molinar back in 2001-2002. He also introduced me to Bob Weller, Bob Marx and Art Hartman. Those were two great summers!

Anyway he was asked to be a guest speaker at the expo and said he would do it for $25 (basically enough to take care of his gas expenses to drive up there). He's got a new baby to support but was willing to give up a day for Tom and the rest of his HRD buddies. I know Rob has been paid as much as $400 to speak for some business groups for an hour presentation. However, most of his talks are given for free to schools, clubs and non-profit organizations. Ed Perry told me he did one of the best presentations anyone ever did down at the McLarty Museum a few months ago.

Now he told me he got an email saying all guest speakers have been cancelled, becasue there is no money. I read found it hard to believe but then read the thread and saw this is true, heck I'd pitch in 25 bones to hear an old buddy speak!!!

Peg,

I have some old Spanish coins from the 1500's. No certs. Let me find them and I will mail them to you for the EXPO.

Diver down.
The $25.00 is not a problem. It is the overall cost of the meeting room-just for ONE day the overall cost will run a little over $400.00 but that includes the clean up aftewards. IF and I am saying IF there is enough donations received with the next 30 days then YES Robert will be invited.
You know I hate to keep POOR MOUTHING

Don,

Let's go ahead and get the other room. I'll send my check out tomorrow to cover the cost, and to give you some extra working cash.

Someone please notify Rob that we would love to have him.

Peg leg:

Gottcha, I had no idea the meeting room was that expensive. I'll try to balace my check book (scary though in and of itself) and see what kind of donation I can afford.

I just sent an email to Rob Westrick and made him an offer which I believe he will accept.
It will be up to him the time he will do his SEMINAR.
I suggested about 7:00 p.m. on the 18th. I also suggested he talk about the 1715 wrecks since we are where they all went down. I also asked for him to bring some artifacts for displaying.

IMPORTANT:
I keep receiving emails bad mouthing either Carl or Dell but let me tell everyone.
I just received a DONATION from DELL and to be honest out of all that said the CHECK IS IN THE MAIL his was really there.
Thanks Dell
More later

I'm just thrilled the two of them can come as gentlemen, shake hands, and agree to disagree. Disagreement is part of life. Acceptance is also a part of life. It will be a wonderful expo to meet all types treasure hunters - I'm looking forward to it!

Godspeed!
Darren
