I came here for treasure site discussion. One man's treasure is another man's political discussion.
I probably should not have started this thread. Over five years ago I left all forms of social media to avoid political discussion. This site is my only form of social media and I felt as though it was a sanctuary. I went over and visited the political forum here and it didn't do anything for me, but I now realize some people want it. I've quickly reached a point of not giving a damn either way. Still seems like reverse logic to me, to become a Charter Member and receive access to the political discussion. I think it should be the other way around, like paying Amazon Prime to get out of commercials. Political discussions are dangerous because some people are ready and willing to cross over to violence to back their viewpoints. Treasure discussions don't require moderation and carburation. Sometimes brand loyalty runs hot, but rarely fisticuffs or worse.
ironic? Are you telling me that it is mostly made of iron?I came here for treasure site discussion.
This thread is kind of ironic.
This. I’ve yet to find a hobby that didn’t have someone trying to regulate it or ban it outright. And I’ve had many, many hobbies.Too bad?
You know the option is starting your own site and pretending detecting doesn't involve any politics?
Public parks. Curb strips. Beaches.
Antiquity laws.
treasure trove laws.
Private land trespassing laws.
None of that affects you?
Sweet!
Had to look up “dross”. Yes it’s applicable here, but not to any single poster. The coil swings left. The coil swings right. It finds treasure, and it finds dross.
I would consider metal detecting a hobby, but not political discussion. I could in no way regulate it or ban it here, nor would I even try. Some would agree with me, others will not.This. Wouldn’t it be nice if politics weren’t involved in everything and we could just mind our own business while enjoying it. Better get used to it.
Yes. I love it. I started with the White's Spectra V3i, then the Minelab 800, 900, and now the Manticore for well over a year. I am very confident in its ability to find metal, especially small targets at depth. I am very impressed with its ability to block noise. I used to hunt mainly by tone, but now rely on the Manticore screen to decide whether or not I will dig a target. I have operated it near cell phone towers and electrical trunk lines running the sens high between 25-30. I am now debating buying the larger coil.Is that a Manticore detector?
I’ve been eyeing that one.
Have you ever operated it around solar panels?Yes. I love it. I started with the White's Spectra V3i, then the Minelab 800, 900, and now the Manticore for well over a year. No, but I stood near a big municipal solar panel array and the transfer panel at the utility lines was loud and a bit nauseating. I am curious. Maybe areas where I pick up noise are from people's solar panels and not the lines themselves. I spend most of my time in rural woods so I am still learning.Have you ever operated it around solar panels?
I was at a new permission and he released some more land to hunt.
It had a small solar system sittingon the cellar hole. There was no way I could operate the detector on the site.
I can detect under the huge transmission towers that cross these permissions. No, but I stood near a big municipal solar panel array and the transfer panel at the utility lines was loud and a bit nauseating. The Nox 900 was a big improvement for noise over the Nox 800. The Manticore a noticeable step up from the 900.
