Not my area, but from even just the perspective of a yard sale browser, everything looks wrong, as has been said. That “cloth strap mounting hole” pictured and described is much newer than the rest of the mask, see the much brighter area of chipped, less oxidized wood. The seller also can’t write or communicate their ideas worth a turd, number one red flag.
I can contribute a little actual knowledge re the horizontal “grooves” on the rear face: the wood was cut on a straight blade mill. Either an “up and down” mill using a straight, reciprocating blade, the standard in the US before 1850 or so when round blades started gradually taking over in more productive settings, or a modern band mill, or even a band saw, common to any home woodworking shop.
